| river paddle. water was moving well. usually it is low and you drag across the rocks, but with the rain last night it was much better. strong current on the return. came out of the water in 1st. |

| nailed everything but the elite extra cp. missed a turn. got caught up riding with another team and did not look at themap. caught the mistake before they did and saw other teams make the same mistake. still we were the first team to get to cp b. made some better route choices to the next two controls. passed the trail medic just as he was done wrapping up this guys head with a bandage. looked like he was attacked on the chin by a rock. so then things got weird. I guess you would say it was a AOWN sighting. this guy, who we saw earlier walking towards the pond with his fishing pole, now had his own pole dangling in the breeze. he was buck naked right there on the edge of the trail with the fishing pole in one hand and his tackle box in the other. lucky for me and my teammate he was busy scurrying away from us. only caught the "tail end" of the show and it was not worthy of an encore or bow.
It's not unusual to see a naked bear in these woods, but a bare naked man is. |

| trek section. nothing to note except it was hot - really hot. we still managed to run most of the flats and downhills with an occasional short uphill. I let jen nav. for a bit. did just fine. |

| decided to do the NA rogaine champs with a EMS teammate. I don't think he is old enough to be a vet., but that's ok. looking forward to a great course. hopefully better than the last one I did. |
