| 50% trail/bushwack
strenuous bushwack through large rhododendron understory, many stream (river?) crossings, side slope contouring in snow and massive climbs. brain fart in the early moring hours. misunderstood rule cost us 3 spots in the final results. could this be my last 24 hour race? quite possibly.

| hilly course, some pavement, dirt roads, mostly forest roads in bad shape. add one to two inches of fresh snow and you basically have a mess. snow collected on the frame and fork as the wheels spun through. eventually everything froze behind the downtube and we had to chop out the ice with a stick. numerous stream/river crossings. some were ridable - some were not and we had to wade across. this was good and bad - it "melted" the snow off the chain and derailleurs, but our feet got soaked. they were soaked the entire time and were cold, but walking some uphills helped keep them from getting too unbearable.
several bike-whacks thrown in for fun too. the last one was about 1000' climb!
