Beautiful day for a woods run, sunny and breezy, I was enjoying the wildlife(turkeys and deer) and the flora(trilliums in bloom) when disaster struck. Stepped in a hole and felt like someone took a baseball bat to my left calf. It's not my usual charlie horse. No amount of massage helped. I limped home in just over an hour of painfull foot dragging. My tentative diagnosis is torn soleus. Icing has helped very little. Hope I can get in to see the doctor tomorrow. - Update- I was right. Severe tear. Four weeks with no running. Texas adventure race in 4 weeks from last Saturday. Hmmmm.

Horrible outing at Macedonia. Found #10 before #5, then found #6 before #5, returned to #5 then back to #6 then on to never find #7. Gave up and walked in through #11,12,13 then up road to finish. Should have worn long pants and used a compass. To top it off, found out that on the way to #12 I passed within a few meters of #7. Brilliant orienteering.

Quick stop at the drive through teller and then to the library. Good workout and I used no $2.21 gasoline for my usual Saturday morning errands.

Event: April Fool's Rogaine

NYARA April Fool's Rogaine in Harriman. Rainy, windy 45 degrees. Intended to stay out for the full 6 hours, but came in after a slip into a stream that left my feet numb . Navigation went really well. Spiked my first 6 controls while fighting off hypothermia. Found the 7th control after major detour for uncrossable stream. Never found my target for #8. Guess I should have used a compass.
