AT and Gulf Hagas loop that we first did in 1981. Pushed the pace to be sure to get back to Bangor early. Saw huge cow moose near the Katahdin Iron Works. Last day of three perfect days in Maine.

Quads sore from yesterday's climb. Did much flatter hike today. AT from Abol Bridge to Daicy Pond then back on Lost Pond and Foss and Knowlton Pond trails. Amazing water falls on Abol Brook and loons diving for food in F&K Pond. Plenty of moose sign but no sightings. Plenty of wild blueberries for the picking. Ed was worried about bears.

Perfect day at Katahdin with Ed. Chimney Pond and Cathedral trails to summit. Knife Edge and Helon Taylor down. My candidate for toughest hike in New England.

Early AM in thick fog. Stopped to watch two foxes on neighbors front lawn. They didn't have a healthy fear of humans yet or maybe they didn't recognize me as a threat with helmet and wheels. Need to adjust derailleur and install safety strobe before next early morning ride.

50 minute farm tour before work. Up to Hytone Farm for the view. At 7:15 car wouldn't start so took a personal day off to deal with the problem. Took car to Bolton Motors and rode bike home from there.
