Monday Mar 31

Note
(rest day)
tired!

Sunday Mar 30

Orienteering race 55:00 [5]
Spring Cup relay 1st leg. Messed up 1,2,3 then had quite a good run but legs felt quite tired.
Finished in 9th a loooooooong time behind Signe. VSOK girls finished 11th. GB juniors ran very well!
Running warm up/down 35:00 [2]
jogging and strides beforehand to try to wake up legs, jogging after with Nick, Mhairead and Hollie.

Saturday Mar 29

Orienteering race 1:03:29 [5]
Spring Cup classic. OK run, lost a minute on number 9 (in the green) and a few other small misses added up to around 90 seconds maybe? Ran with Jenny Johansson with some of it and Signe Soes flew past me at 9.
Enjoyed it! Finished 10th.
Orienteering warm up/down 15:00 [3]
running to start of Spring Cup we had a warm up map with a few controls on it after the pre-start in the competition centre. A bit odd but helped to get into the terrain.
Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]
warm up and drills, warm down

Friday Mar 28

Event: Spring-Cup

Note
(rest day)
travelling Goteborg to Tisvilde

Thursday Mar 27

Running 25:00 [3]
run to and from start of Middle training
Orienteering 10:00 [3]
shadowed Anne around a mini loop
Orienteering 45:00 [4]
Relay training on a gaffled course with Hollie, Hazel and Alice. Hollie won. Pretty snowy in places!
Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Wednesday Mar 26

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]
Orienteering 1:15:00 [3]
Long training with Hollie, Anne, Alice on a gaffled course (Hazel missed some of it as she was recovering from a cold). Really tough in the snow!
Orienteering 30:00 [4]
Sprint training on O-ringen prologue map.
3 x gaffled sprints. Couldn't find the last control on the first one but ran well after that.
Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Tuesday Mar 25

Note
(rest day)
Very tired from travelling (and JK). Really snowy!

Monday Mar 24

Orienteering race 35:00 [5]
JK Relay
Jo and Grace set me off nicely just down on Elise but unfortunately I couldn't do it on the day! Just a head at the radio control despite having missed a bit on 5 but then had a nasty gaffle (well that's my excuse). Had to really dig in to stick with Rach toward the end. Nice to see lots of Sheffielders on the podium!!!
Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]
not very structured!

Sunday Mar 23

Orienteering race 1:15:25 [5]
JK Long
started a bit hesitantly but thought I was going OK until seeing Pippa infront of me at 6! Caught Grace there too. Ran with them for a bit until Pippa missed. I struggled a bit for the rest of the course as I thought Pippa was in front of me but looking at the splits I dug in pretty well. Lost a minute on each of the long legs though...
Running warm up/down 40:00 [3]
jogging and drills, jogging after to get jacket from start

Saturday Mar 22

Orienteering race 36:00 [5]
JK Middle
scrappy run. Similar to my World Cup run here but at least without the big mistake. Big hailstorm kicked off a few controls from the end - crazy!
Impressively close between the top 3!
Running warm up/down 30:00 [3]

Friday Mar 21

Event: JK 2008

Orienteering race 17:13 [5]
JK Sprint.
Didn't get my head into it from the start. Realised when chatting through routes with Helen B and Pippa afterwards that I'd inadvertantly cheated by going through the 'bushes' 12-13 so disqualified myself. Not a good start to the weekend!
Running warm up/down 30:00 [3]
jogging and drills

Thursday Mar 20

Note
(rest day)

Wednesday Mar 19

Running 30:00 [3]

Sunday Mar 16

Orienteering race 44:00 [5]
BUSA relay first leg. Good run mainly, missed number 3 (an easy one!) so everyone caught me back up but then got into gear for the rest.

Hallam women won comfortably - nice one Helen and Em!!
C • congrats! 5
Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]
warm up and down

Saturday Mar 15

Event: BUSA

Orienteering race 54:00 [5]****
OK run, but lots of mistakes all over the place. Head not quite there but felt OK. 4+ minutes down on the winner (Helen) Sheffield Hallam 1-2 bodes well for tomorrow though
C • tefl 2
Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]
running to and from the start a couple of times and jogging back from the finish.

Friday Mar 14

Running 30:00 [2]
run from work, in between trains, home

Wednesday Mar 12

Climbing 1:00:00 [1]
Ignored the three orienteering sessions on offer in Sheffield today (craazy!!) and went climbing with Gareth, Oli, Kim and Hilary instead.
Did some new problems in my new 5.10 Sirens!!!! It's easy now I have such sticky rubber...
C • I thought advertising was b... 1

Tuesday Mar 11

Running intervals 24:00 [5]
4x 1k on the track. Great thunderstorm that luckily just about missed us although got soaked at the end of the first rep. Told Grace it's like that every week (think she thought I was joking but Kel could vouch for that!!).
Had a bad tummy beforehand so didn't think I'd manage anything. Pleased to just skip the last rep.

Got slower every rep: 3.34, 3.36, 3.38, ???

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]
4 laps jog and usual drills beforehand, jog to EIS after with Clare and Jen

Monday Mar 10

Note
(rest day)

Sunday Mar 9

Orienteering race 1:12:00 [5]
Burbage colour coded, nice course (thanks Rob and Clare!). Missed 13 but apart from that pretty clean and enjoyed it. Sunny the whole time!
Orienteering warm up/down 8:00 [3]
run to start and back from finish

Saturday Mar 8

Running 1:10:00 [3]
Longer loxley run with Oli. Pretty windy out there but stayed dry.
Note
Helped at Night O for a few hours but didn't run.

Friday Mar 7

Running 40:00 [3]
Loxley run after meeting Amy and Rory and Jaimie for lunch and a wander round Meadowhall.

Thursday Mar 6

Running 25:00 [3]
home from work.

Then went to see the Go!Team and jumped around a lot which could probably count as training??
C • Most definitely! 1

Wednesday Mar 5

Climbing 1:00:00 [1]
the works plus Oli, Kim, Hilary. Nice new blues (some a bit too hard). Difficult with sore knee but made me be more controlled and climb down rather than jump (something I should always do...).
Knee felt OK afterwards.

Tuesday Mar 4

Running intervals 24:00 [5]
4 x 1k off 6 mins

1st 2 went through 800 in 2.50, 2nd 2 in 2.55

Skipped the last one.
Running warm up/down 1:00:00 [3]
to track, laps, drills, home

right knee a bit sore (has been a bit since Sat maybe) hopefully OK though and didn't really feel it tonight - just felt a bit 'funny'

Will have to be careful climbing tomorrow as I think that might be what has caused it...

Monday Mar 3

Note
(rest day)

Sunday Mar 2

Orienteering race 1:09:07 [5]
Oh no just pipped by Grace again - hope this isn't becoming a habit!

Nice-ish run round Crich, a bit brambly and got stuck in some really nasty bushes on the way to the last control. Had a good run, lost 2 mins maybe?
Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]
not much jogging to start and back from finish

Saturday Mar 1

Event: SHAFF Urban Race

Orienteering race 1:04:00 [4]
SHAFF race.

Felt inspired after watching the 'Inspiring Women' movie but managed to avoid any base jumping!

Got all the answers and went the opposite way round to last year in a bit of a convoluted route.
Running 30:00 [3]
run home from cinema, the sun even came out!
