Saturday May 31

Running race 1:59:29 [5]25 km (4:47 / km) +600m 4:16 / km
I would usually round this up to 2hrs but...
Iron Knee (25k) trail race along the North Shores (Baden Powell trail) of Vancouver - starting at the bottom of Grouse Mountain and finishing in Deep Cove.
Really cool race, well organised and loads of friendly people. Didn't see any bears.
Paced it well I think - almost bonked in the last 5-10 mins but just held it together!
Finished 3rd woman, first 2 were 7 mins ahead and had a sprint finish!

Also did maybe a 5 minute warm up and stood in the sea for 10 mins at the end!!
Note
Coolest thing ever happened today - I won the rep comp at Arcteryx which was to make a stuff sack (sew, seam seal, logo etc) and got a Macbook Air for my troubles!!!!!! Makes up for only getting a medal for the race.
C • macbook 8

Thursday May 29

Note
(rest day)
meetings all day

Wednesday May 28

Running 2:00:00 [3]
Long (longer than expected!) run back from the car park at the bottom of Grouse mountain to our hotel via the Capilano suspension bridge. Recce'd the first hour or so of the race. Legs sore but I think it loosened them a bit.
Ran with Andy (my boss) and it was his longest run in a long while!
Note
Was the first day of the Arcteryx meeting on the top of Grouse Mountain which was pretty cool.

Andy and I got back from our run just as the coach with all the reps on was leaving for dinner - we got a big cheer...

Tuesday May 27

Running 2:00:00 [2]
Run up the Chief in Squamish, first summit only. Fantastic up there, ITBs will be sore soon!!!
C • cool! 10

Monday May 26

Event: York City Trophy (the 8th)

Running 1:30:00 [2]

Easier mtb round Lost Lake!

Saturday May 24

Orienteering 20:00 [3]
Deep Cove sprint O map. Cool area, lovely day. A chance to recce the finish of the trail race too and bumped into some guys who had just run part of the route and gave me loads of top tips which was nice!
Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Friday May 23

Note
(rest day)
travelling to Vancouver.

Got a lift to Man Apt with the Sheffield contingent of the Euro Champs team which was handy BUT THEN my flight was delayed by 8 (EIGHT) hours. Nightmare! Terminal 2 is not that interesting... I bought a few books and made quite a few friends which was nice.
C • Flight delays 3

straight to Indiana Jones after work (it was OK) then an early night

home from work

Wednesday May 14

to and from track and drills
Running intervals 35:00 [5]
3 sets of 600/400/300/200 at 1500ish pace in 7.5 mins with 4 mins between sets.
First and third set went OK, not so good on the middle set. Good gang of girls despite the Burbage Skyline tempting a few away!

Monday May 12

Note
(rest day)
went to watch Leeds (via my gran's for tea) after work.
Rubbish!

Sunday May 11

Running 2:20:00 [3]
Long run from home through Beeley to Wharnecliffe and back. Nice and shady at least.
Climbing 10:00 [1]
2 and a bit (ok a very little bit!) routes out in the Peak at Birchin Edge thanks to Neil and Tim.

Saturday May 10

Running 40:00 [3]
up rivelin to the road and back, nice morning!

Friday May 9

Running 50:00 [3]
walked from Crowden to Hadfield with my dad (on part of his York to Athens walk) and then ran back. Lovely day, bit hazier than it has been which probably saved me from getting sunburnt!
C • Madness! 4

Thursday May 8

Orienteering 30:00 [3]
home from work, legs tired still

Wednesday May 7

Orienteering race 45:00 [4]
Spring Cup at Greno thanks Andy and Louise. Lovely evening. Legs a bit tired still from the weekend. Got to 'race' Pete Tryner and Tim Tett around a bit which helped me to keep running.

Tuesday May 6

Running intervals 30:00 [5]
Hallamshire session (no snooker world champ present unfortunately but lots of other people).
3 sets of 500/400/300/250 with 70sec to jog 100m between each rep and 3 and a half minutes between sets.

Wasn't sure I would manage 3 sets so started a bit steadier than I sometimes do and got into it on the middle set.
No watch so no times.

Lovely sunny evening with a bit of a breeze, hope this weather stays...
Running 1:00:00 [3]
run to and from track and drills (brief refreshment stop on the way home at the Fat Cat)

Monday May 5

Orienteering 30:00 [3]
nice course round Ogden with Sarah-Jane, beautiful area and weather, loads of people out to remember Ivor.
Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]
a little bit of jogging

Sunday May 4

Orienteering race 1:05:00 [5]
Cawthorne NE. Got to race some guys round who started at the same time as me and a minute in front on the same course! Think that must have helped with my motivation as I felt pretty bad by the time I'd run to the start with Oli (it was a bit humid).
Pretty clean run, only one real mistake which was going straight on 4-5 which maybe lost me around a minute and tired me out a lot.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]
run to start, no warm down

Saturday May 3

Orienteering race 36:00 [5]
Ebor Middle Race at Gilling (FCC)
3rd W21 I think, way down on the junior girls. Made a few mistakes - 3 and 8 especially, then got a fly in my eye! Wouldn't have done a very good time even without mistakes though...
C • a fly!!? toughen up lass;) 4
Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]
jogging to start with Nick (putting the world to rights as ever) and minimal drills, not feeling 100%

Friday May 2

Note
(sick)
felt a bit queasy all day so rested

Thursday May 1

Running 1:40:00 [3]
run home from work, to Clare's and then an hour up Rivelin and back. Lovely evening. Unfortunately a bit lonely as Clare hasn't fully recovered from the cold so gave it a miss.
