travelling

currently on the X2000 from Sundsvall to Arlanda then flying home!
Beautiful train BUT it's already 15 mins late departing - didn't think that happened over here??

Sunday Jul 27

Note
(rest day)
a real rest day! some swimming in the sea but mainly chilling out at a friend's sommarstuga.

Saturday Jul 26

Note
(rest day)
mainly shopping in sundsvall, some swimming in the sea!

Friday Jul 25

Note
(rest day)
getting a lift to Sundsvall, didn't run day 5 as I would have had to start so late. Shame as it looked good but then it was really hot!

Thursday Jul 24

Orienteering race 42:30 [5]
O ringen day 4, feeling much better.
a loooooong time behind Jenny Johansson...
Cool to orienteer on the fjalls but it was kind of a bit similar to an English moorland with lower heather!
Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
jogging to the chairlift with James Hargreaves and a little bit of warming up at the top. No warm down again but I'm not running tomorrow just a 6 hr car journey so no worries!?

Wednesday Jul 23

Running warm up/down 1:00:00 [2]
(sick)
jog to start and to number one and nearly to two and then back along the whole route to the start explaining to most of the Brits on the way that I had to retire because I was ill.... (poorly all night, thought I might be OK to run but not at all)

rubbish

Tuesday Jul 22

Orienteering race 37:20 [5]
day 2 of D21E took it carefully today - a bit over cautious perhaps but didn't make any big mistakes. Ended up 5 mins down though still.
Running warm up/down 40:00 [2]
To the start and a bit afterwards today as my back was sore this morning...

Monday Jul 21

Event: Oringen 2008

Orienteering race 1:20:00 [5]
O ringen D21E day 1
Not a great run, started OK but then missed the impossible no.9 and let that put me off for 10 and 11... a little bit scrappy at the start too but would have been happy without 9 and 11...

32nd place and a looong time behind the leaders.
Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]
jogging to the start, no warm down... silly I know

Sunday Jul 20

Orienteering 25:00 [3]
O ringen training with Jo, managed to find a pause in the rainstorms that Rob ran in! Feeling inspired after the GB Woc relay victory but unfortunately I don't seem to have got any quicker or better at orienteering...

Friday Jul 18

Note
(rest day)
tidying, cleaning, returning library books etc before setting off for O ringen at 4.30pm...

Sunday Jul 13

Note
Not really a rest day but no training.
Helped at Cliffhanger from 10am to 18.30 pm - hundreds and hundreds of kids had a go!! Until 1ish it was just me and my mum helping but then Mike came along and then Martin and then a few more people thank goodness. Absolutely manic!!!

Saturday Jul 12

Event: Cliffhanger Ultrasprint

Orienteering race 10:00 [5]
Garmin Ultrasprint qualifier at Cliffhanger. My time of 10.09 would have put me in the A final had I not hung all the controls!!
Running warm up/down 40:00 [2]
warm up/down and some jogging back and forth all day
Note
Helped at Cliffhanger from 9am to 6.30pm! Great to see lots of kids having a go...
C • Great event 6

Friday Jul 11

Note
(rest day)
spent two and a half hours setting up the Cliffhanger Ultrasprint in Millhouses Park. Just got the SI units to put out in the morning now...
Thankfully Marcus, Fionne, Colin and Pete did all the heavy lifting!

Think it should be good, my top tip is O shoes!

Thursday Jul 10

Event: WOC 2008

Biking 45:00 [1]

Biking 20:00 [1]
and home

Tuesday Jul 8

Biking 25:00 [1]
Bike to work, pretty tough route now with the extra hill. Felt hard after a fell race.
Biking 20:00 [1]
and home again, quicker!

Monday Jul 7

Running race 40:00 [5]
hathersage fell race, can't seem to do this race without having to stop with tummy ache and getting a really bad blister on the base of my heel!
Finished 4th. nice to see Channah back winning.
Actual time 39.19 over a minute down on my record which got well and truly thrashed by the leading ladies (36ish?)
Running 15:00 [3]
warm up

Saturday Jul 5

Running intervals 50:00 [4]
Fartlek round Longshaw with Channah and Adam whilst Kelly and Ian went for a run and shouted what we should do at us.
Managed to find a non-rainy spell.

Friday Jul 4

Orienteering 25:00 [4]
2 sprints round millhouses park (ultrasprint recce). Quite easy without the labyrinth!! but rest assured it won't be on the day...
Head to head with Oli which was nice because after all love does make orienteering easier.

Thursday Jul 3

Running 30:00 [3]
run home from work

Tuesday Jul 1

Running 15:00 [1]
very slow jog down to work trying not to sweat!
Running 30:00 [3]
running to track - further from the new place
Running intervals 35:00 [5]
2 x 4min hard (off track, same distance each rep) then 15 sec recovery before a 300m very hard (57 then 59 secs) 3 mins 30 between sets

Then 9 x 200m in a trilauf with Liz S and Ruth
running 31-34 secs for the short 200 and 38 for the long one!! So an average of 36 seconds.
Running 20:00 [3]
strides and drills and (not very much at all) warming down
