A good day. I had a nice run, although it got a bit lonely. It started off pretty technical, and a made a couple of mistakes in the butterfly loops. I then ran straight past a control because I was planning the leg after the map turn-over. Oops, lesson learnt. The second half of the course was less technical and more about running. My only chance of getting a run with someone was with Rob Baker, but I cam past him in some thick green forest and only caught a glimpse of his lycra-clad body. I started to get a bit tired so took some go faster gels. I did go faster, but not for long, or even very much faster. But I think they did help, and they were tastey. I'm pretty pleased with my run, especially because I ran the whole thing on my own.

We went to the Filling Station for dinner in Inverness and a waitress managed to set the fire alarm off by bring out a dish of something that was pretty much on fire. We had a nice view out the window of a very drunk bum at the bus-stop and the usual flock of goths.

Matt got condemned to sleeping round the corner because he snores.

Orienteering race (GBR WOC Selection Sprint) 16:41 [5]** 3 km (5:34 / km) +55m 5:06 / km

GBR WOC Sprint Selection Race, Stirling University.

Not such a good race. I'm not the biggest fan of sprints, but I thought I could do OK if I kept my head together. But then I started running from 1 to 3, not good. I realised, but was a bit confused and annoyed, like a bee in an oven. I ran quite hard after that, even though I knew I had blown it, after the forest (1,2,3 & 4) it was a bit easy and a bit boring, just running round the uni. I picked all the same route choices as GG, I was just running like a fat man.

We then drove up to Inverness to find out Travel Inn, GG hadn't planned ahead and we did a few laps of the ring-road with some rude-boys in their suped up Novas before finding it. For dinner I had ham, onion chutney, lettuce and Heinz salad cream sandwiches, tastey.

We watched a bit of peep show before bed, I think this is my favourite programme just now.
