Golf 2:30 [2] 3.0 mi (50 / mi)

The usual 9 holes--great weather.

Sunday Jun 28, 2009 #

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3] *** 4.0 mi (22:30 / mi)
shoes: Montrail Cont. Divide

Started as a trail run af FCE, but ended up more O'ing while scoping out good areas for an October event. 1:15k maps are *really* getting hard on these old eyes...

Road Running 35:00 [4] 4.25 mi (8:14 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

Lewis mills block--multiple 100-200m striders thrown in, mostly uphill. Very hot and humid. Lots of aches and pains still...

Road Running 1:08:00 [3] 7.6 mi (8:57 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

Greeson + Bollinger loop. Felt pretty good a first, but lots of aches and pains when I finished.

Note

Off on travel with no opportunity for training. Hopefully that's the last of that for a while.

Orienteering race 31:16 [4] **** 3.1 km (10:05 / km) +95m 8:45 / km
shoes: Montrail Highlander

Short "orange" (really brown-like) course at summer picnic relay. We decided to let Sam run the longer course for "Team Reed", and I was OK with it since I had to drive to Hartford right afterward.
I guess I was too casual in the orienteering because I was expecting easier Orange level of difficulty when if fact several controls were quite difficult with all the vegetation hiding things. That, and my glasses fogging up, even with the cat crap.
On the more obvious legs, I did OK (even took a couple fastest splits), so clearly it is the technique and navigation that I should really be working on.

Road Running 47:46 [3] 5.6 mi (8:32 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

Steady, not too slow run around the block. Everything from my hips down hurts. I think it's my back acting up and causing all the muscles to tighten up.

Monday Jun 15, 2009 #

Golf 2:00:00 [1] 3.0 mi (40:00 / mi)

9 holes-pretty stiff

Sunday Jun 14, 2009 #

Road Running 35:00 [4] 5.6 mi (6:15 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

First pace work in a while. 2 min intervals with jog in between. Certainly felt it afterward so it must have been worthwhile.

Golf 2:00:00 [2] 3.0 mi (40:00 / mi)

I might not otherwise log 9 holes of golf, but as tired as I felt it must have been worth something. Lots of aches and pains after yesterday.

Off-Road Running 2:00:00 [4] * 17.0 km (7:04 / km) +500m 6:09 / km
shoes: Montrail Cont. Divide

First long trail run in a while--and it felt like it... Very beat at the end (and the next day). Conditions were fine (shoes, water pack, weather), but legs just hurt all over. Going to have to do a lot more of this if I'm going to finish the O marathon.
15min run/1min walk routine
*climb estimated--up and down some pretty big hills

Road Running 47:30 [3] 5.6 mi (8:29 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

Around the Bollinger block. Back to being tight from a few lunges on Tuesday... Note to self: either don't do them or stick with them.
Actually pretty tight all over. Training is in such disarray from leadup to rogaine, rogaine and blisters after rogaine, that I should probably consider this week a complete re-boot.
