Road Running 1:00:00 [3] ** 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel 2110

Around the Bollinger block for the first time in a while. The lack of good training over the past couple weeks is catching up to me--sore, stiff, no energy, etc.
Tried out my new 1:10k topo map of the neighborhood. Probably useful for eyeballing distances but not enough detail for collecting features. Maybe I'll try adding some...

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3] 4.0 mi (22:30 / mi)
shoes: Vasque Velocity

Scouting out FC East for designing courses for later meet. About half walk, half run, mostly on trails. Nice to shake off the stiffness from all the car travel this week.

Orienteering race 3:00:00 [5] *** 9.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: Vasque Velocity

Valley Forge local event. Relatively easy O, but lots of distance.
20 minutes jogging warmup
600yd hill climb race (needed more uphill warmup...)
9k red course 1hr50min, no major difficulties other than being tired at the end
hill climb (again) as 'rabbit' for Angelica
another mile or two doing control pickup

Orienteering 3:00:00 [2] *** 6.0 km (30:00 / km) +200m 25:43 / km
shoes: Vasque Velocity

Walked over an old green course on FC East. Focussed on map contact and route decisions. Typical summer conditions--buggy, tons of spider webs to walk through, hot, overgrown, etc. Talked to Mark Cornish out running the dog (he had the sense to stay on the trails...)

Road Running 48:00 [3] 6.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel 2110

The usual Bollinger loop, trying to work out the kinks from driving to Hartford and back the last 2 days. Sitting so long in one position definitely throws my back and leg muscles out of whack. Still, when I wanted to, I could pick up the pace without too much trouble. 48:00

Orienteering 1:31:00 [4] **** 5.5 km (16:33 / km) +200m 14:00 / km
shoes: Vasque Velocity

Re ran a green course on FCN from last year. Between a 100deg heat index and the bugs(!), not the best day to be out running in the woods. I felt sloppy, physically and mentally, pretty much the whole time. Other than getting in the woods, I'm not sure what training value this had. For the future, I need to have a specific objective and method in hand before setting off...
I did stay off trail much more than usual and ran the course 17 minutes faster than last year.

Road Running 50:00 [3] 6.0 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel 2110

Bollinger loop with a 15:00 pace run thrown in, just to see how things felt after all the training disruptions. Not bad overall--speed doesn't seem to be a problem. I need to figure in some longer runs and get out in the woods.

Road Running 1:07:30 [3] 7.6 mi (8:53 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel 2110

First time on the Greeson/Bollinger loop in a while. More of a stress reduction exercise than training... Still, the calves are already getting stiff. Still probably not used to running without my orthotics.
