Golf 2:00:00 [1] 3.0 mi (40:00 / mi)

Usual--still played pretty crappy, but the other guy was even worse.

Sunday Aug 30, 2009 #

Orienteering race 55:48 [4] *** 5.7 km (9:47 / km) +10m 9:42 / km
shoes: Montrail Highlander

Fatlands event. Not too bad except for one brain-dead moment where I ran off the map going to #6. Hard keeping concentration--already know its hard to do lots of epunch and helping before running. Too much going on in the brain that doesn't apply to O'ing.

Road Running 48:00 [3] 5.4 mi (8:53 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

Back home after driving a thousand miles (literally). Easy run to loosen up. Right hip is really tight and sore.

Sunday Aug 23, 2009 #

Road Running 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

On the road at Sturbridge MA... More hilly than my usual routes.

Orienteering 1:25:00 [3] **** 2.0 mi (42:30 / mi)
shoes: Montrail Cont. Divide

More vetting of Sam's FCE courses. Spent much time studying one area that just didn't make sense. It seems very small changes in actual elevation of contours would produce substantially different map. Plus, I think, going to 1:15k leads to more confusion. Moving all the time, substantial legs of running--very hot and humid.

Golf 2:00:00 [1] 3.0 mi (40:00 / mi)

Usual--very hot

Sunday Aug 16, 2009 #

Road Running 45:00 [3] 5.4 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

90deg, but less humid. Felt better, but not great.

Friday Aug 14, 2009 #

Road Running 50:00 [3] 5.6 mi (8:56 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

Lewis mills bollinger loop. Extremely humid. Felt somewhat better, but still pretty tired. I hope its just the weather.

Off-Road Running 55:00 [3] ** 5.0 mi (11:00 / mi)
shoes: Montrail Cont. Divide

Running the trails at FCE while Sam did some control vetting. Extremely humid. Felt clumsy on the trail--need to get off the roads more. Pretty good workout overall.

Monday Aug 10, 2009 #

Golf 2:00:00 [2] 3.0 mi (40:00 / mi)

Decline continues...

Sunday Aug 9, 2009 #

Road Running 1:15:00 [3] 8.4 mi (8:56 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

Lippit Bollinger loop - Felt lousy again, little pains all over. Extreme humidity made for a tough run.
Have to try some experiments in changing training approach--more rest, less rest, etc. Going to be hard ramping up the mileage for Dec.

Orienteering 2:00:00 [3] **** 7.0 km (17:09 / km)
shoes: Montrail Cont. Divide

Mostly walked a trial green at FCE. Lots of good orienteering. Legs still feel terrible, though.

Wednesday Aug 5, 2009 #

Road Running 38:00 [3] 4.25 mi (8:56 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 740

Lewis + New block v humid and AM, so I thought this would an easy run. Toe was kind of a pain, but more generally hurt all over. Still can't tell whether its undertraining or overtraining. Not sore when just sitting/walking around.

Monday Aug 3, 2009 #

Golf 2:00:00 [2] 2.0 mi (1:00:00 / mi)

Usual--though it was hard walking with mashed L toe

Sunday Aug 2, 2009 #

Orienteering race 1:30:28 [5] **** 7.2 mi (12:34 / mi) +270m 11:15 / mi
shoes: icebug mr2

Another wild weather day at Mt Penn. Took along dry towels in a plastic bag for glasses, but never used them--too much trouble. A few less-than optimal routes to minimize difficulty of running with impaired vision. Perhaps viz-x (or whatever) on the outside, cat crap on the inside?
For the n-th event in a row, screwed up the first control.
Feet feel like they've been beaten with hammer--not sure if it was the icebugs or not. So many rocks, covered with ferns, and a hard time seeing them (with wet glasses) to begin with.
Need to get off to better start and work on hill climbing--still.
