Road Running 36:30 [3] 4.0 mi (9:08 / mi)
shoes: adidas supernova adapt

Around the block--testing out the foot. Felt no real pain, but probably a good idea to work back up slowly.

Road Running 50:45 [3] 5.4 mi (9:24 / mi)
shoes: adidas supernova adapt

Bollinger block. R foot felt fine at the start but just progressively hurt more through the run. Tried to stay on level road, but that didn't seem to help--in fact getting off on the grass seemed to help slightly. Felt pretty strong otherwise. Guess I'll lay off running for a few more days and see if I can nurse it back to health. I sure hope it's not one of those things that doesn't heal properly without surgery.

Road Running 51:15 [3] 5.4 mi (9:29 / mi)
shoes: adidas supernova adapt

Bollinger block--getting some fresh air before driving to Ithaca and back. "popped" something in my right outside foot yesterday (perineal?) that was bothering me the whole way around, particularly on rough surfaces. Maybe lay off for a few days (while driving and doing xmas things).

Road Running 54:00 [3] 5.4 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: adidas supernova adapt

Bollinger very easy with some walking. After sitting in planes trains and automobiles all week, I thought I'd better start easy. More than usual aches and pains, but nothing serious

Road Running 47:00 [3] 5.4 mi (8:42 / mi)
shoes: adidas supernova adapt

Mental health run around Bollinger. Felt pretty strong and time was good without pushing at all. I guess I'm peaking just after the season ended (not going to the final 011 event this weekend)

Note

Time to get back with the program. Haven't been logging much for a couple weeks, but generally keeping up. Good run last Sunday--last event for the year.
Fastest splits on several legs on Red, which should be the basis for my rethinking training this coming year. Basically, I did well on the long flat/road legs and on the hills. Most losses coming from poor route choice and poor technique on the short technical legs. So what can I do? Probably lots more armchair orienteering, which shouldn't impact staying healthy/fit. Time in the woods would be nice too. Even though my uphill legs were OK, my lungs and quads tell me that I could use more focused hill/step work. In short, I need to get away from thinking that lots of "junk miles" are going to make for better orienteering. Not that I won't do them for other reasons (getting out for fresh air), but I shouldn't think I'm "training".
