Worst leg and only one person to blame for this. Goggles failed within the first 50m so right eye was full of salt water. Had to keep emptying it which was frustrating. Had asthma issues and struggled to about the 500m mark where i finally started to feel reasonable. I suspect i was passed by another wave out there.

Was looking forward to this leg. Got on the bike and started strong. Half way through the ride my left foot started to give me a lot of grief. Couldn't push as hard as i wanted on the left foot which was annoying seeing the pace i was holding. Haddnt ridden in the tri shoes in over 2 yrs so that could have had something to do with it. Passed a bucketload (240gallon size) of riders out on the course. Backed off on the last lap at the last turn to help with the next leg

Hmmn, a world of hurt. Could not get going at all but to be expected i suppose. A hard run the day beofre and no proper tri's in over 2yrs it was going to tbe tough. Had to convince myself not to walk at any stage and succeeded at that task. Enjoyed the beach sections of the run.
Paddling race 32:29 [4] 5.0 km (6:30 / km)

Grabbed the ski and managed to punch it thorugh the break and paddled out into smmother surf. The milpond was a dissadvantage for me as it meant everyone could paddle it comfortably. Managed to pass 2 people with 100m to go. It was the O'Leary technique that allowed that to happen. 20m to go i realised that the guy i had just passed and was hoping to hold off on the sprint was a team and his fresh runner was waiting at the transition. poo.
running race (final beach sprint) 1:01 [5] 0.2 km (5:05 / km)
somehow managed to hold off the team runner as they decided to run in together. Got to love team committment.
