Orienteering race 1:27:29 [4] 8.9 mi (9:50 / mi)

SOL1 Dalrulzion. Black 14/19

Dalrulzion is fabulous, but this is not my type of area, too rough, too much time stuck in windblow. Even so, easily the best course of the year, better, I would say, that the 6-day offerings in part because the lower section brash is nearly destroyed by two hard winters - back to its state o three years ago before the foresters moved in. Course flowed from white to mixed, to moor, sympathetic with the climb despite starting at the bottom. Nixon won in 65. One brain dead error navigating from 1-3 (on a non-feature) then standing like an idiot trying to figure why the code was wrong. Big circle at 7 for another non-reentrant in the green, mystified as to how I didn't see it. Passed by Andy Dale there, got away again on the moor, but he passed me again while I was stuck in windblow. Pretty tired by the end: nearly got in touch with Andy, but then ran the wrong way round a pile of fight.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [1] 5.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Warm Up, down and control collection.

Right hamstring still far from clever. Very sore after driving, still running on brufen. Although it got sore towards the end, running doesn't seem nearly as bad as driving (had to stop on the way home to swap drivers...).

Orienteering race 17:09 [4] 2.9 mi (5:55 / mi)

Scottish Sprint Champs. Ran course 1, M35, and got beaten by 1 second by Roger Goddard. (e.g. on the run in). Duncan Coombs won in 13xx. Ok run but getting beat wasn't the plan.

Super area (North Muirton, Perth) of intricate housing estate. Good course with loads of controls. Several 10 sec. errors which added up in teh end. The odd mapping annoyance (carpark mapped as wood, unmapped impassible fence) and confusing control descriptions (sides of uncrossable fences, which people were reaching through to punch) wouldn't have been so annoying but for the close result.

Running warm up/down 35:00 [2] 4.0 mi (8:45 / mi)

Before and after the race. Got a ride woth Pyrahs, so got there in good time.

Orienteering warm up/down 1:25:00 [1] 9.0 mi (9:27 / mi)

Control checking at Gullane. Felt very tired and never really raised more taht a jog. The map around the carpark field is rubbish. Since Archerfield blocked off access to the dunes, the paths are vanishing.

Running hills 54:00 [4] 5.0 mi (10:48 / mi)

Hill reps on Blackford

4 x 45 sec
6 x 2mins

Nice day, moving quickly, as was Kirsten.

Orienteering 36:00 [3] 5.2 mi (6:55 / mi)

Bike over to the steils, and run a course. Lap of Firrhill, take some grief from neds.

Running intervals 45:00 [4] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: none

Still sore in the hamstring. Bit of a dangerous balance at the moment, so decided to run intervals at lunchtime in the light on grass, Liberton field
6x3min 1 min recovery barefoot. Got the 3 min loop inside 3 mins as well, the suspicion that speed, if not flexibility, is moving in the right direction.

Seemed to be more hard bits on the ground than last year.
