Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Trying to get motivated.

Orienteering race 37:30 [4] 4.2 mi (8:56 / mi)

Scottish Relays, last leg, family team with J&J.

J&J both had so-so runs, and I kept up the standard. Fiddly early on, found it hard to read map or work out whereI was meant to go next, then spent time stuck/mincing in bogs and particularly lumpen on the climbs. Even so, enjoyed it in a passing-lots-of-fish sort of a way.

Orienteering race 1:10:03 [5]

Ardnaskie/Airds Park. M45/50: 9/32 4th in M50 SOC.
Wasn't that long ago I expected to be winning SOC, now 8 mins down on Quentin seems like an OK run. RobL, jayh and DaveR and the expected M45s some way ahead, Ran 3 controls with Quentin, and a final section with Rob, both of whom were pulling away.

Would be happier if I was bothered: just tired I think.
Totally wiped by the end.

In other news, James got 3rd which is not too shabby for a boy who never made it to scotjos. A real achievement for him, of which he's been desirous as opposed to a somewhat derisory attitude to Nat 5s.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:34 / mi)

Bit longer than planned, Mortonhall, round in circles in Howdenhall estate but all the gaps in the fence are gone, so back via the retired greyhounds home and Liberton Tower.

Running 52:00 [2] 6.0 mi (8:40 / mi)

Braids, bburn, Hermitage and Blackford. Quads still sore!

Running warm up/down 1:00:00 [2] 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

In and out, there and back, and around

Running intervals 28:00 [3] 3.0 mi (9:20 / mi)

5 x 1km Meadows. Nominal effort as v.stiff from yesterday but a nice leg stretch and kept them under 4mins.

Running intervals 26:48 [5] 2.0 mi (13:24 / mi)

That 10k challenge, with Scott and Murray vs james and the Carci.

Insanely fast start, and lexc and freddiec set james off ahead, and the gap explodes over the first few laps, to about 50m (14sec). Then stabilised, then began to come down. By the 10th interval james was back with me, then slowly we ground ahead. The UK record looked on, but as Scott eased up on the home straight the virtual Mo Farah nipped by and we missed it by 1 sec. Boys did 27:19

Horrible nervousness beforehand, but once we got going too knackered to feel embarrassment. It was fun, roll on 2025 :)

Splits: 35 37 38 38 39 38 38 37 36 38 38 38 39 38 38 38 (Give early/take late)

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

what it says

Cycling warm up/down 20:00 [2] 3.0 mi (6:40 / mi)

Bike home from Meadowbank on Janes bike.

Note

Forget Mo Farah. My pace on the 200s is almost exactly the same as my own PB for 10k. (31:43). Despite having less climb and wind at Meadowbank.
