Cambridge City Race. MO 12/68
For some reason James decided to start 1 min ahead.

After a very wobbly start, weaving in the rough open and missing a turn at 6, still spotted James on the log dogleg into Downing and started legging it, got him in sight through more doglegs 10-12, then eyeballs out to catch and lost contact at 14, blindly following. Relocated late in the leg, and running together we made different errors - he trying to nip through a locked gate and me running to 15. ooops. After that it was mainly hanging on by the eyebrows.

Very pleased with how quick I was going later, but needed to avoid the early sloppiness.

Orienteering race 47:44 [4] 6.8 mi (7:01 / mi)

CSC final, Helsington Barrows 7th M50.
Curse of INT - beaten on a tiebreak.

Rested up and was going for it. But the precise definition of "going for it" was put into sharp context when James Logue came by like I was standing still. On the back of his winning the FRAs yesterday. Was a bit scrappy, a few 30 sec errors but just not covering the ground fast enough. Failed to get a top-3 split.

Beaten by DaveR on the trivial final loop (which cost INT the Trophy), then listened to Scotland beaten on the trivial final line-out in the rugby WC.
