Orienteering race 1:16:38 [3] 7.3 mi (10:30 / mi)

Northern Champs, Mulgrave Woods 10/54 M45&50.

Won by Quentin in 6330.
Had zero expectation of what I expected to be a mud fest, but after the first few falls shoulder seemed OK. First section was brutally slippy and muddy, found everything fairly cleanly, but Neil Conway came by from -4 and ran off. Then some long track legs, and suddenly Neil was ahead, then behind, then gone, until the next slippy muddy slope. Got a very good route to 14 (climb, run along the top, descend), then missed 15 slightly to left, and went way further left binning 3+ mins.
On further inspection ... was a really good course, several options I didn't even consider at the time, lots of micro and macro route choice, two long track runs to break things up, both having enough options to catch some people out (used the tunnel both times - this was the correct answer). So, still struggling with balance. "Ran" in the more4's which have amazing studs, and weight to match, and used the wrist compass to avoid smashing the thumb-magnifier and keep hands free for crawling over logs and up slopes. Not elegant, but this was probably the right answer for me today.

Orienteering 41:20 [3] 5.6 mi (7:23 / mi)

Finished soaking wet covered in blood and mud. Must have been a proper orienteering race.

Whitby urban 3/3 dqs so far this year.

Running 50:00 [2] 5.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Up to the braids. Glorious spring day, sat to admire the view for a bit. In part because L glute is sore as hell and the whole thing was a struggle.

Orienteering race 20:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

RR sprint race at Traquair, including six controls in the (unmapped) maze. Felt OK, perhaps surprisingly, though some unknown local vettish type kept whizzing past. Jane still troubled by her knee, not there. Beaten by Ian Maxwell on the maze penalties, but ahead of James :)

Running 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Home, to collect James

Running intervals 23:00 [3] 1.7 mi (13:32 / mi)

4*670m meadows reps in about 2:40. Horrible evening, and feeling a bit knackered.

Running 40:00 [2] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

There and back, and an abortive start around.

The now regular route out to the ERI and back.
