Orienteering race 54:25 [4] 6.4 mi (8:30 / mi)

Tamar Triple day 2 Braunton Burrows "Long" 15/143 (winner <42:58).

Should be pretty happy with this, just over 10mins down with no knee problems would have been a very acceptable outcome when I entered. After yesterday hopes were a bit higher, but the splits show that even this level of roughness slows me down compared with tarmac/lawn of yesterday.

Technically very scrappy early on, couldn't easily understand the mix of paths/veg/contours, then lost 2mins in the circle at #9, but mainly steadily losing time on running speed.

Control checking at Stockhill

Orienteering race 31:36 [5] 4.0 mi (7:54 / mi)

Tamar triple Day 1 Course 3, 1/124

Ran hard, was generally clean, slowed a few times to check the map and one wobbly route choice put in extra climb. But nailed a couple of tricky route choices. Plus running a course for the lame and the blind. Even so, winning the course was completely unexpected (not having any fastest splits, however). Maybe those 35min sprintelopes are perfect training. Exeter University/Streatham is a great area and it was easily the best urban course of the year.

Running 18:00 [2] 2.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

In & out

Cycling 50:00 [4] 12.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

3 laps of Queens drive, on a haary chilled evening. Felt a bit like a fit person, whipping past people on the climb, admittedly i was pushing hard, but they were proper cyclists with fancy bikes, cleats and kit, and you don't commute round the seat. Don't ever get that feeling running nowadays. Maybe the way cyclists kit obsess makes it more satisfying.

Orienteering race 28:10 [4] 3.9 mi (7:13 / mi)

Bruntsfield Sprintelope. Pretty clean. pleased to spot the double-cross of the Western approach road route. Then stuffed up the last control, miscounting lampposts and going to the wrong seat in full view of everyone. d'oh.

Running 40:00 [2] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Strength&conditioning 30:00 [3]

LLGP.
Weekend made me think this is working, but really struggling to fit it all in.

Note

Despite being faster again this week, Meadows reps still 20sec (8%) down on last year. Carrying a bit of weight (known, fixable), worried about HMSN (unknown, unfixable), just lazy.
