Orienteering race 36:50 [5] 3.7 mi (9:57 / mi)

Day 5. Landshut M55 1st
It was a castle. I raced it. The we went into some unbelievably steep spur-gully stuff with hand over hand climb vs 3x the distance going round on a path. Not sure the scramble was ever right.
Dead level with Arne at #8, the effort of the week caught up and the mistakes crept in. For him. So trundled back with a 3:10 win, leaving aside the 29 minutes for the M18s, which was enough for a beer mug in the overalls.

Jane also won, more convincingly with less scrambling. Also snuck past the Borderliners Paul & Judy Johnson in the teams. Kudos to Paul for winning overall without winning a day!

Strength&conditioning 15:00 [3]

Some, at the airport. Proved really hard to do this with brken routine last week.

Orienteering race 20:08 [5] 2.5 mi (8:03 / mi)

Regensburg Urban.
Had checked the old map, and it looked like being very straightforward, so went off hard and stayed flat out. Sure enough it was easy, so apart from getting distracted by the wrong Xing point control, managed to win all the legs except, obviously, the 12% deficit on the run in and a few seconds on the dead run to #1. Won by 2+mins overall!
Turns out to be a bit fortunate, jane's course was quite tricky.

Cycling 1:20:00 [3] 12.0 mi (6:40 / mi)

From Matting to Bad Abbach, crossing the Danube and back via Donaufahre. Sit up and begs, so hard work.

Orienteering race 31:51 [3]

Passau sprint.
Any prospect that the course leader might not be good at sprints was despatched when I turned at the first control, a long and simple leg, to see him approaching from a minute back. Fairly clean after that until the last two, then goofed at 16... Followed plan perfectly, then inexplicably cut out to the road instead of the control. Then, hadn't planned the crucial route choice to 17, and miss read a narrow alley with a thin line on the end, not thick... So by 17 Arne was back in sight, and he pretty well caught me on the long run to the finish.

If he looked a bit more like an athlete and a bit less like Father Christmas I wouldn't mind so much.

Orienteering race 34:19 [3] 3.4 mi (10:06 / mi)

Bavarian 5 day 2.
Middle distance in rocky forest. Written off today before starting, but turned out to be granite with big rocks and clean underfoot. Trundled round slowly more or less straight, aside from one big round route choice. Mainly dull middle stuff, but a couple of longer legs required thought.

Won by 3.5 mins. Hmm

Cycling 40:00 [2] 10.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

On a sit-up-and-beg by the Danube.

Orienteering 1:01:39 [3] 5.7 mi (10:49 / mi)

Bavarian 5 day 1.
Started well in a low Vis, steep forest with lots of rides on the maps and, well, not so much on the ground. Then got off line and saw a deer, which should have been a clue. Relocated, but 6 still failed to appear, and round and round I went for a six minute error. Some further misses later on felt inevitable given the terrain, and an unexpected crash in energy, due to lack of dinner or sleep last night. Hopefully.
