Orienteering 1:00:42 [4] 5.1 mi (11:54 / mi)

Alicante stage 4: "long". Rojales.
Been nervous about a full long course, but it was all a bit derisory. Rocky, bushy and tricky except that most legs were path runs.

Remarkably, dues to some cockups by others, was in the lead by #6.
Maybe trying too hard, and made a huge error at #7 (10mins?) missing a control 4 times. Thought it was too high, but on closer inspection the three contours above it are *all* formlines. Ooops. Then got confused later in some ponds near the finish with some weird sprint/ISOM mapping and spilt another 2mins.
So, even I should have been sub 50. Jane took 36 ! Whatever happened to long courses?

Orienteering 1:00:00 [1] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Training area at Guardamar, since the actual races weren't giving us any sand dune. Really nice, walk/jog with jane, shadowing and doing alternate legs.

Orienteering race 17:23 [4] 2.3 mi (7:34 / mi)

Race3,. Sprint. Guardamar.
Enjoyed this, felt like actual running orienteering with some boring urban and two tricky parks. Lost a couple of 20 secs. At the end, misreading some bushy stuff. Slower than Jane on the common legs which were dead running.

Orienteering 38:28 [3] 3.3 mi (11:39 / mi)

Day 2 event 2. La Marina, Elche
In bulletin 3, they reveal that the guardamar race is not in the dunes but in some green rocky stuff. It's another middle too. Plod along the red line for half an hour or so. Main time loss due to shoelace retying! This would have been disappointing if I was able to run, as it was it probably suited me well.

Stick seems to upset some people if you pass them, even when they're standing still!

Orienteering race 34:56 [3] 3.3 mi (10:35 / mi)

Alicante race 1. Middle at Caudete. Struggled getting down Into the rocky stream at 1, stick no help when you need to use hands! Then trundled along OK until missing at the tricky #7 bush in bushy area, having strayed offline.

Cycling 1:40:00 [3] 22.0 mi (4:33 / mi)

Out to Beecraigs to watch the Handicap, mainly on the towpath until after the bedogged Almond aquadect.
Felt better today.
Only james ran at Beecraigs .- looking good off the last start, but managing to get lost.- Jane cycled home

Cycling 1:20:00 [3] 14.0 mi (5:43 / mi)

Cramond and back through the city centre, with Jane, until she decided I was too slow and raced back home.

Running 29:00 [4] 3.1 mi (9:21 / mi)

Meadows 4:54 46 37 35 36. Lovely evening for running. Poor turn out though, just the McIntyres and Ewart Scott + me and Martin. I was duly the slowest, though Ewart was doing shorter loops.

Running 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

There and back, no more.

Note

All very weird, takes a couple of reps to remember that I have to really concentrate on how to run. Its like the legs have never done it before.

Note
