Wednesday Feb 27

Yoga 40:00 [1]
Road Running 56:00 [3]
Just Rocky, Phatty, and I tonight. It was cooooold so of course we lost a few due to that. Stayed on the roads tonight to try to avoid any sprained ankles before this weekend although I did manage a little roll on a trail between subdivisions. Phatty and I are so glad that we have this midweek group since we usually moan about going out and would most definitely not if it weren't for the group. Legs were a little sore from hills and holding warrior II in yoga for extended periods of time.

Tuesday Feb 26

Road Running 35:00 [2]
Warm up and cool down for a hill workout with Bash.
Road Running 15:00 [5]
5 hills on the Deer Valley hill. I actually felt better this time than last time and I think we are going to have to ramp it up to 6 hills next week - ohhh I can hardly wait.

Snowshoeing 1:30:00 [5]
Snowshoeing 1:03:00 [4]
Slice and I teamed up for this years snowshoe raid at Horseshoe Valley. The weather was perfect and thankfully Denise lent me her small snowshoes so I didn't have to get showered by the rooster tail of snow that my snowshoes kick up......

I didn't think that Slice and I were going to be able to clear the course so we set about preparing a couple of bail-out points along the way. Turns out we were ripping it up pretty good and could have easily cleared the course. We made the fatefull mistake of leaving a 20 pointer that was oh so close just to make sure we could make it around the second half of the course. We crossed the HV road with Bent and Goose and ran with them through the second half. We had a couple of great wipe-outs and once we realized we were going to cross the line half an hour before the cut-off we were pretty upset we didn't take the 5 minutes to go and get the 20 pointer. As it turns out Hansel and Dr. Wells snuck in ahead of us in the point standings but we had to be happy with 7th overall anyway. All a part of rogaining I guess.

Slice and I worked really well together with her running to get the controls while I set up our attack for the next control. Oh it also worked really well when she pushed me up the hills - hehe! At least we didn't have to bust out the tow line though.

Friday Feb 22

Trail Running 35:00 [2]
Little jog by the river with Slice to loosen up the legs for the Snowshoe Raid. Had a good stretch after and felt much better.

Wednesday Feb 20

Classic skiing 1:25:00 [2]
With Bash and Coach LD on the Humber River. Really nice day out and I had my first klister (sp?) experience. We started on the river and then headed up onto land when we started feeling a little like Bambi on the ice. Fun adventure with some ski-whacking and ice-cracking under foot.
C • Good Job! 6
Trail Running 1:35:00 [3]
Once again I'll have to check the time with the group since I never wear a watch anywhere. Tonight there were just four of us, Rocky, Scooby, Phatty, and myself. On the way over to meet at Goose's house Scooby hid in the trees and jumped out to scare us. Luckily Phatty was in front and narrowly missed jumping into the river. Scooby was aiming to scare me after some of the stunts I have pulled in the past weeks but once again I have eluded him. The trail was pretty packed down at the beginning but then turned into ankle rolling heaven and finally I went down trying to high step it through some crust.

We tried the river on the way back but the cracking and open water and Scooby's story of falling through more than once a couple of weeks ago sent us ashore on some trails out to Duffy's and home. I took a couple of pictures of the lunar eclipse and will try to post one later.

Riding indoor (Trainer) 30:00 [3]
Somewhere around this time. I couldn't deal with looking at the clock too often. Bash and I decided to avoid running on the ice today (good thing since someone came in this afternoon with a sprained ankle from slipping on the ice while running) and went to the gym instead. It felt good to lift some weights again and I luckily ran into slowrunner since I wanted to talk to her about setting me up with a strength program. I have to admit it's pretty tough to do any cardio in there though. Bash and I would give each other knowingly glances as we buzzed away on the machines with everyone else.
Strength training 25:00 [2]
A mish-mash of everything from free weights to the ball....

Monday Feb 18

Road Running 1:25:00 [3]
I'll have to double check the time with Phatty but it was around this time. We ran the old rail trail in Orillia over to my friend Heather's parents house on Couchiching Point. Not feeling great but we paused for a slide down the ice sculpture in the park on the way back and that made me feel better. Lots of slushy stuff around.

Sunday Feb 17

Snowshoeing 3:00:00 [2]
Up on Koshlong Lake in Haliburton with Slice, Phatty, Koona (beautiful Siberian Husky) and CH. The weather was the pits (raining all day) but we still ventured south to Bark Lake. Phatty and I wanted to go do some snooping around the potential wedding site but once we got out on Bark Lake the rain and wind and my whining made us turn back. Miserable slog home but still nice to be outside in Haliburton.

Movie watching after.
C • Sounds Nice! 16

Friday Feb 15

Road Running 35:00 [4]
Went to do hills and just felt like crap. My legs were still heavy from the weekend and that's probably because I didn't do any recovery work or stretching. Not sure how many times I have to learn that lesson.
Yoga 20:00 [1]

Thursday Feb 14

Strength training 20:00 [3]
Pushups, Crunches, and band work.

Wednesday Feb 13

Trail Running 1:00:00 [3]
I'm not entirely sure how long this run was but I certainly started to feel the hip flexors in the deep snow after a short while. I was motivated to continue since we were having Mrs. Scooby's chili at Rocky's place after. Yummy!

Orienteering 1:30:00 [2]
With Bash out in Glen Haffy to hang some more flags - HOLY SMOKES THERE IS A LOT OF SNOW! Luckily we wore snowshoes today. The sun was out and it was absolutely beautiful. We didn't have a lot of time but managed to get some of the flags hung for the weekend. It's going to be a fun but tough, long course.
C • Hope your 3pm patient was late... 2

Wednesday Feb 6

Orienteering 3:15:00 [2]
With Bash out in the deep snow at Glen Haffy....the course is getting tougher with the snow...good luck folks.
Orienteering 1:36:00 [2]
The Wednesday night crew decided to head out to Albion Hills to practice some navigation before this weekends Thomass Race. Well we certainly had practice trudging through the deep snow while it was still coming down in buckets. Crash, Scooby, Rocky, and I headed in one direction while Phatty, MrBiker, Goose, and Mike headed in another.

We had a blast watching Scooby fall face first over a log into the snow and learned an invaluable orienteering lesson on how to reassess your position once you look at your compass and discover you are heading north instead of south. I think Scooby's exact words were "No F*#%in' way". They did a great job of discovering where they must have been and continued on from there.

I also managed to pull the "prank of the week" for the second week in a row by screaming "Oh my God what is that" and looking behind Scooby and Rocky as they were looking at their maps. The looks on their faces were priceless and I have a feeling I have it coming to me one of these weeks. Last week I made a mad dash for the finish line (Goose's house) and claimed victory for the evening even though Scooby had been leading the group until then - hehe!

Great night out!

Tuesday Feb 5

Road Running 20:00 [2]
TLT training with Bash. We decided it was time to add in some interval/hill training so we did. So much better doing it with someone else but still not fun. Although I did see Bash smiling as she was running uphill, what is the deal with that?

This was the warm up.

Yoga 30:00 [1]

Saturday Feb 2

Road Running 45:00 [4]
Around my sister's place in Burlington while her and Slice made a yummy dinner. Slice had already put in some running time today so I had to get my butt off of the couch. It's been a busy and lazy week. I made my way down to Lakeshore and through some really nice neighbourhoods. Slippery on the roads and had a couple of hooligans yell at me! Glad I forced myself out the door for some fresh air though.
