| To my naturoprathic appointment. I'm getting my own Botanical Tincture created just for me so look out everyone.....it's supposedly going to make me really fast and really smart. Well she didn't actually say any of those things but heres to hoping. | ||

| Up to Bents office to get my new "tatooth". That's right I now have a built in compass on my tooth! I hope this helps with my sense of direction. It was a great day for a ride too. | ||

| Trail Running 1:20:00 [3] | ||
| With Phatty out off the 8th line in Oro. We both had the same gear to wear for our run which was NOT planned but since we were going to be in the woods we thought we wouldn't run into anyone and therefore could avoid the embarrassment of having the same outfit. Sure enough we are running down a trail and encounter a group of moutain bikers....and then I hear someone yell my name....it was Crash and the Bolton Moutain Bike Club - BUSTED! We had a good chuckle over it though and it was less embarrassing the second time we saw them....
Slow run and the legs eventually warmed up. We had some wet snow out there too.....

| Trail Running 1:12:00 [4] | ||
| My first Trek-or-Treat run at the Kortright conservation area. Some funny costumes out there and thankfully Slice bought me a costume so I could join in the festivities. The "spiderweb" costume turned out to be like running in a down jacket but hey that's the price you pay. At least I didn't have paint on my face like some people - yuck!
Long story short I followed some people in front of me in the wrong direction (I have a history of doing this on trail runs) and it turns out we cut off some of the course. So once I came around again to the finish area after about 50 minutes and was told I had 5km to go on the 10 km course I just decided to run that section again and get a bit more training in. Got some comments from some of the volunteers including Bent who asked me how many times I was going to do the course when he saw me for the second time. Fun run though - next time I won't eat a big pasta dinner before since it didn't digest in time - and maybe I will have contacts by then so I can see where I am going...

| Trail Running 1:02:00 [2] | ||
| With Bash and Bulletdog out on the HVT. I was waiting at the office for her call this morning to say that it was soooooo crappy out that we really shouldn't risk running on the trail should we fall and hurt ourselves. No phone call though and since her phone isn't working right now she didn't get my calls letting her know that I could meet her at my house since I had to go home and get my stuff. Good thing since we both agreed that if we talked before we met there was a chance that we wouldn't have gone out. Of course it was fine once we got out there - nice and muddy and Bash went down on one of the bridges. Luckily it wasn't the one over the Humber River, she could have ended up in it..
For those who did the 8 hour rogaine in the Gats this past weekend here is the order that Slice and I did the controls in for interest sake.....if any of you who are reading this remember your order can you post it.... 30, 44, 32, 56, 67, 51, 75, 73, 59, 61, 46, 49, 69, 71, 31, 60, 72, 52, 57, 68, 45, 70 (the clock is now ticking fast), 33, 74 (couldn't pass this one up), 63 (had trouble finding the trails from 74 to here), 38, 36, 55( didn't get this one but we must have been practically breathing on it before we had to pull the plug since we only had 17 minutes to get back), 40 (almost missed this too as I took us into the wrong re-entrant but Slice spotted it just as we were leaving for the finish line)...... I can now see so many better options of course but alas that is part of it isn't it?

| Event: Gatineau Park Rogaine (2h and 8h) | ||
| Orienteering 7:59:00 [4] | ||
| I teamed up with Slice for this 8 our rogaine in Gatineau Park. We were both excited to get out into the woods in an area that is sooooo beautiful. We also managed to find a couple of leopard print tank tops to wear on top of our packs to go with the Bobkitten name. The colours were amazing and the temperature was perfect.
With only half an hour to plan our route on two maps (one 1:10 000 and one 1:25000) I tried to use what Bash taught me with the pins and string to plan our route. Just as we thought we might have something set we heard the whistle go to say that our half hour was up. Uh oh - we didn't even have a chance to see if our route made sense. Oh well it's the same for everyone. Our plan was to nab some on the 1:10 000 on our way out on to the other map and leave some just in case we got back early - HA! It took us a while to get in to a groove and it was really apparent that we have to work on pace counting. We had a little trouble here and there with some of the controls and there wasn't any vegetation detail on the map so pace counting would have really helped. We didn't have to abandon a control until the very end when we just didn't have time to look around so all in all it went well. Of course our route could have been a little better but we worked well together with Slice usually carrying the bearing in to the control to punch and I tried to take us out to the next attack point. We ran into DogRunner and Mr. Mo who looked strong and confident and Hansel and Dr. Wells who were still moving despite a broken toe. The end of the race had us running for the finish as we tried to nab controls here and there on the way back. The most difficulty we had was with a 60-something pointer where we just couldn't find the trails we were looking for. It cost us time but we eventually found it and then hoofed it on the road back. With one 40 pointer in a field on the way to the finish line I lead us into the wrond re-entrant and just when I thought we were going to have to abandon our second control Slice spotted it in a re-entrant on our way by. She then proceeded to coax me in to the finish line just in the nick of time...... Great day, great course, and of course a great Bobkitten Partner.....now we just have to work on our pace counting and watch out. We ended up 1st females and fourth overall - better than we expected. We did run A LOT though and noticed that teams that ended up not too far behind us in the standings didn't run at all - ouch! Better route choice maybe next time and pace counting for sure!

| Yoga 30:00 [1] | ||
| At home without a video. I must say I was pretty happy with doing my own practice. I thought I would have to look at my yoga journal mag to guide me but I guess I know enough to do it on my own. I tried to incorporate poses that I find difficult too. | ||

| Out with Goose on the HVT for a night run. Luckily he was in front since we ran into what appeared to be a 200lb beaver....yikes. Great temp. for a run - shorts and short sleeve. I guess that is not necessarily a good thing though... | ||

| Trail Running 1:02:00 [3] | ||
| Out with Bash and Bulletdog on the HVT. It was fun to watch Bash getting yanked along for the first part of the run but once off the leash Bulletdog would just run ahead and then casually look over her shoulder to see if we were still coming. I tried out the new Salomon XT Wings today and I have to say I like them. They are light and stable and have slightly more cushioning than the XA Pros. Plus they are a cool flashy green colour! No rolling of the ankles in those babies...
Legs felt a little sluggish today...maybe due to the cold that I have thanks to everyone bringing it into the clinic! Hopefully it's gone by the weekend for the Rogaine.

| Mountain Biking 1:20:00 [4] | ||
| To see Bent in Palgrave so he could drill some of the metal out of my mouth. Was running short on time so I had to pick up the pace. I arrived with mud on my face from the wet roads but I figure this is one office that will appreciate that.....especially since I arrived human-powered. | ||

| Trail Running 35:00 [3] | ||
| With Phatty and my brother-n-law near his house in Burlington. I felt TERRIBLE - had to stop due to major cramping in my stomach...the boys went ahead and I turned back after a quick vomit session. A couple of minutes later I felt okay so I just jogged around waiting for them to come back on the same trail....not a great run for any of us. | ||

| Trail Running 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| We met up at Coach D's (I forget his already established nickname) house for a night run. Phatty, Rocky, Coach D, and I hit the HV trail with our headlamps and ran up to the wellness center and then onto some trails through the neighborhoods on the north hill and back down to the valley. Great to have a group to run with so we'll see if we can keep it up through the winter. I was nervous for Rocky who has IM Florida in 3 weeks but she said she was missing the trails so much she wanted to run on them for a bit....luckily we all made it out unscathed.... | ||

| Trail Running 1:05:00 [2] | ||
| With Bash on HVT#2 and then back on Duffy's Lane. Insanely warm for this time of year. Not only did Bash carry my water again but she picked me an organic apple at the end of the run.....but then I had to pick hers because she couldn't reach it and it didn't seem fair to watch her jumping away while I munched happily on my apple! | ||

| Paddling 1:45:00 [2] | ||
| Bug out day. Phatty and I went for a swim once we got back to the campground. I have to say the water wasn't too bad. I think if the weekend had been sunny we would have spent a lot of time in the water. | ||
Sunday Oct 7 | ||
| Paddling 2:30:00 [3] | ||
| Paddling and portaging to Killarney Lake. Amazing blue water - too bad it means the lake is dead. They are on their way back though. Someone told me that is because the smoke stacks in Sudbury used to be lower and dumped all of their crap in Killarney. Now thanks to the big stack it spews it's crap to some other location - that solves the problem if you ask me! | ||

| Trail Running 1:10:00 [3] | ||
| Along the HVT and some local roads. I was missing my usual water carrier, Bash, but I managed to get out to enjoy the warm temperatures and it didn't rain on me. I felt pretty good so I picked up the pace a little bit....this is very unusual for me. | ||
