| Trail Running 3:30:00 [3] | ||
| It rained on us while we were trail running/trekking over rocks on the Bruce Trail. I have to admit that the time flew while we chatted. We even stopped for a few pics that I will have to throw up here soon. | ||
| Mountain Biking 2:00:00 [3] | ||
| On the roads back to G-Town. It's nice to ride on the roads when there are no cars around. All in all a great training session with the Gally's. Phatty and I split at around 6:30am after a nice hot shower and I had to keep shaking my head to keep myself awake while driving. | ||

| Mountain Biking 3:00:00 [3] | ||
| Met the Gally's at their place to head out for a night training session from G-town. I think we were on the road by 8pm and we had a mix of road and trail at Kelso before transitioning at Mrs. Gally's grandma's farm in Kilbride. We were lucky that it didn't rain on us although we could see lightning in the distance. | ||

| BAD BAD BAD RUN!!! It's like someone came along and drained all of the energy from my quads. I'm not sure why but I better figure it out soon. | ||

| Mountain Biking 2:30:00 [3] | ||
| Wednesday morning rides have started up again and there was a good crew of us out there. My bike definitely needs some TLC and due to some chain skipping so I had to avoid some gears - of course all of the ones I wanted to use. Serves me right for the neglect. Great day out and perfect temperatures...... | ||

| With Phatty on the HVT - felt like SH*T! I hate those runs....oh wait a minute that's what I feel like almost every time I run! | ||

| The Caledon Navigators Mountain Bike-O out in Palgrave forest. I arrived late from work so everyone was finished but Bent quickly put his map holder on my bike and I was off. I was warned about #8 being slightly misplaced and I still had trouble finding it. Things were going well up until then though. Fun to get out on the trails and I will have to make sure that Phatty and I get up there more often this summer.
Fun course and I think we are going to do another one in August if anyone is interested in coming up for it!

| Trail Running 1:10:00 [3] | ||
| Rocky and I were the only ones to make it tonight. My legs were really heavy from the weekend. I have a mild tear in my right quad that I have to take care of. That means letting Thumbs of death get in there and I am dreading that! Good pace though and lots of chatting. | ||

| Between the 6th and 8th lines of Oro-Medonte. Beautiful day, lots of trilliums, and amazing trails. I felt pretty good today. | ||

| Trekking 1:00:00 [1] | ||
| This one only counts because it was a much needed hike after our pig out fest the night before when we were camping at Lac Taylor. We ran in to some spots on the trail that Dogrunner and I had seen the day before and we were once again reminded of our painful orienteering performances. | ||
Sunday May 18 | ||
| Orienteering 2:04:00 [3] | ||
| Very bad day for me on a tough course. All of my weaknesses were made painfully visible today. I will write more later.
So now that the results are up I am super embarrassed. Things got ugly VERY quickly as it took me over 14 minutes to find the first control. When I was climbing a hill and saw Hans I knew I was probably off course. I even took the time I needed to orient myself and although I was trotting through the forest I was sure I was on bearing. Not even close. I don't think I have ever been that far off a bearing!!! The day continued like that with me being consistently too far to the right. As the frustration mounted I tried to pace count but that didn't seem to help much. I just didn't know how to approach a control that didn't really have many large features around it that I could use to attack. Most of my control descriptions were boulders (in a sea of boulders) with very little definitive contours around and many small cliffs. I rolled my right ankle twice, went down on my right knee hard on a boulder (how ironic) and took a large branch right in the trachea (ouch). Don't worry I got the best of that branch and I am so glad no-one saw me fighting with it. Unfortunately I mis-punched control 10 and because I thought there was a 90 minute time limit and I was near 2 hours I just punched 11 and went to the finish rather than going back for 10. I guess there was a 3 hour time limit so I was a little disappointed that I didn't complete the course after all of that. I would love to sit down with Bash, Hammer, or Sudden to talk about how to approach those controls. It was just beyond my level and I want to know what to work on to get there.....I know pace counting is a big part of it so rather than talk about how bad I am at it I should probably just practice. Slice said she was out practicing the other night so I better get on it since we are teaming up for the US rogaine champs in June. Great setting though and I still love orienteering even though I may have said that I hated it while I was out there! I do wish I had a video of my fight with the tree branch though - it was impressive. I even did the snap over the knee thing - I'm so tough.

| With Phatts Jr. after the orienteering. Some technical stuff which made me realize how much work I have to do on the trails.... | ||

| Trekking 2:00:00 [1] | ||
| With Slice, Dogrunner, Skylar, La Femme and JK on the wolf trail in Gatineau Park. Love being back there and it was great to catch up with the girls. | ||

| Note | ||
| A solid .5 on the intensity scale walking around TO and trying on wedding dresses.... too bad the one myself and all of the girls liked the best cost $2500. That's okay for some people but not this chickita who would be thinking about how that money could have gone toward a new bike! Hey maybe I could just wear a bike - yikes! | ||

| On the mountain bike up to and back from yoga. Crazy huge bugs flying into my face on the way home and I forgot my glasses so a couple of them landed in my eye and blinded me temporarily. Gross! | ||
| Yoga 1:15:00 [2] | ||
| Oh boy week #2 was a little different. She hammered us with abs right out of the gates and then continued the abuse throughout the class. Thank goodness she reminds us to breathe because in some of the postures I didn't think I could. Great class. | ||

| Trail Running 2:30:00 [2] | ||
| Phatty and I collected the controls from the Warsaw Caves area and had to laugh at ourselves as we couldn't find one of them. We didn't have the control descriptions so decided once we were in the right spot that someone else must have picked the control up....wrong. It was probably 10 feet from us in a depression but we didn't see it. Luckily we attacked from a different location just to make sure and there it was.
Didn't feel great on this little outing - tired from the weekend. Phatty and I did stop for an impromptu "broad jump" competition though. I don't think it is any surprise who won this one but I am impressed by how far Phatty can jump with no lower legs and how I am not able to jump further given that I have perfect Superman flying technique.

| Mountain Biking 1:52:00 [3] | ||
| On the road over to Phatty's work so we could get on the road to Warsaw for Storm the Trent. The ride was actually good - nice weather and only a couple of jerks that came too close for comfort.
| ||
| Trekking 2:30:00 [1] | ||
| Phatty and I headed out to place the controls at the north end of the Trek Elite course for Storm the Trent. We thought it would just be a little stroll in the woods and didn't bring a compass, water, or food. I was soooooo thirsty I thought I was going to die. What a couple of idiots. Anyway we managed to get all of the controls in place along with getting very wet and only a couple of encounters with drunk locals. Luckily we were out there at night and so could place the controls without the fear of some of these people taking them down. | ||

| Trail Running 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| Felt like sh#$! Legs were okay but I had a headache (which I rarely get) and my stomach hurt....grumpy run. Good thing I was by myself. I did have a nice blue jay leading me along for most of the way though so I wasn't entirely on my own. | ||

| Trail Running 1:03:00 [3] | ||
| The HVT with Bash but we went out on CSI trail for something different. Rocky told us that it was nice and clear so we risked it even though we got turned around on that trail before.....she was right it was great and a nice change from the HVT.
We bumped into Slowrunner who had fire in her eyes from spotting a whole bunch of garbage that a big highschool group had just dropped. She was chasing them down and let me tell you I wouldn't have wanted her to catch me.....I think she described the group of younsters as "a bunch of fat slobs that came up from the city and were leaving garbage on her trail" (at least she is honest!)....Bash and I saw the garbage on our way back so I think I will take a pack with me on tomorrow night's run. And for anyone who is interested in seeing how the Bobkittens stay warm while waiting an for a couple of hours before teams arrived at their very windy and cold checkpoint here you are......oh this is also part of our cross-training...think "FLASHDANCE" http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk238/muellerle...

| Road Riding 55:00 [3] | ||
| To and from my Monday night yoga sessions and I encountered the same black dog that Crash encountered last week on Humber Station. I was just riding along minding my own business when I started to hear little scratching sounds beside me. I looked over to see a dog booking it beside me and I tried to drop the hammer to lose it but sadly he passed me......I guess he wasn't really looking to get a chunk out of my leg and he wasn't barking. Maybe he just likes a good race...but I do know that he jumped at Crash's leg. I am blaming my somewhat tired legs from the weekend for not being able to outrun the dog on my road bike (how embarrassing). | ||
| Yoga 1:30:00 [2] | ||
| Great yoga session at Evergreen yoga. She has a new studio on top of a newly built garage out in the country and it is spectacular. The finishing touches still have to be put on it but the space is great. We did yoga to the peepers and with the windows open it is such a great place to do yoga in. I was having a hard time with some of the warrior poses since my legs were so tight from the weekend but I have a feeling I will see a lot of improvement over the next 8 weeks. | ||

| Trekking 2:00:00 [1] | ||
| Slice and I patrolled the trekking section of the highschool race and became very familiar with the Deerhurst trails (too late). I am logging it because we were tired at the end and got busted just sitting on a log in the bush because Lawrence could see us from the finish line. It was our matching red Salomon jackets that gave us away.
Fun day watching the kiddies. ![]()

| Adventure Racing 6:00:00 [3] | ||
This is an approximate time but close enough. Aghhhh where to start. Well I teamed up with superstars Slice and DogRunner for this one and I thought if things went our way we could win this one. On the mountain bike things were going smoothly as we jumped in front with Phatty's team (with Dr.Wells and Bender). We hit the first couple of CP's together and dropped back a little when we had some communication issues and passed a sign that was CP2 (the sign was the same colour as the tree so you had to have the eyes out for it). Talk about learning some lessons though. I had the map and Slice had the control descriptions so we both had half of the info. we needed. I didn't want to write too much info. on the map for fear of covering up features but I should have written some info. We collected ourselves after that and our next mishap was at CP#5. We were looking for a control on a rock fence and the description was "on a slope at the peak of a rock fence" (or something like that). Where I had plotted my CP was a the base of some elevation which lead me to believe that the control was near the bottom of that slope of land but the high point of a rock fence. We found 8 million (almost) rock fences and after 25 minutes finally found the right one only because I continued in the same direction that Salmon Suunto went when we saw them last and I knew that they had it.So as I cursed and swore knowing we had lost valuable time Slice told me to stop beating myself up and we just had to pick off teams one by one. We went in for CP#6 at the first trail we saw to our right and as we rode north toward the river I yelled out that the CP should be on the south side. As we crossed I just accepted that maybe it wasn't and not long after we saw the sign we were looking for and Dr. Wells running up to read it. We followed them out on the next trail and headed south to CP#7 while they went north to 8 since they already had #7.We saw a lot of teams heading back north as we went south and I could only hope that they hadn't been in to #6 yet or we had more work to do than I thought. #7 wasn't too much trouble and I almost passed 8 but we found it and then were off to try to make up some time. We came in to the TA (and I was still grumpy) changed quickly and headed to the boats.Slice deserves major cred here for sterning a white water boat on flat water with wind and a heavier (yes that's me) teammate up front. The boat was trying hard to spin back and forth but Slice is strong and we managed to be only 2 minutes slower than Salomon Suunto here and made up some time on FB's team 3mph. Ahhhhh the trek. I knew that the map wasn't going to be accurate but I did think that the trails would be marked according to the map. WRONG! When we found a trail labelled "highlands trail" on the exact opposite end of the map from where it should be I knew we might have trouble. As we continued to try to find CP's again and again we continued to see more and more teams on the trek......again the cursing and swearing (Slice even joined me for a little bit). Eventually we found them all and made our way to the finish line to find no-one around - oh great we were in dead last. We found out shortly after that that we held on to third but Phatty's team had the same trouble we did and FB and the boys passed them to come in first. The Treehuggers came in shortly after us but with only 3/4 of a passport and you can read Bash's log for her story on CP#6.So how do I feel about the course overall...well I have to say that I still like the point-to-point format but I didn't really mind doing the clover leaf as much as I thought I would. I hated the cartoon map (but maybe I have to work on changing my mindset according to the map), the paddle was uninteresting but oh well, and I think I would have rather had a trek in where the bike section was. We could have dropped our bikes and headed into a trek, come back and picked our bikes up....Anyway once again the girls were awesome to race with and to volunteer with the next day (we made a great flashdance video that may just land us on "So you think you can dance"). I had a blast hanging out with FB, Tommy Hillflyer, AP, Bash, Bent, Goose, Phatty, Dog Runner, and Slice. It was also so great to see some really green adventure racers out at the highschool race the next day. I think most of the kids had an awesome time and despite wearing cotton jogging pants and carrying full blown floor bike pumps they were having a blast. Slice and I got some great pics and video of them that we are going to post on their facebook group.
Here is a post race picture of us in our lovely matching pink Salomon hoodies! Great weekend overall.
