Trail Running 2:10:00 [3]

Well after a week of not doing anything due to bad timing and a now sick child (of course I have a sore throat and sniffles now too) the fam headed back to Col de la Forclaz. Weeanimal is obsessed with paragliding. I took 4 photos on our last hike there and she makes me go through them for up to an hour at a time. I would just leave and let her zone out in front of the computer by herself but I am afraid she will wipe out all of my photos or something. So today I was hoping that while I was running there would be a lot of paragliders out. We were not disappointed. There was a Red Bull relay multisport race on and one of the legs was paragliding. There were hundreds of colourful gliders in the air for her to say "WOW" at. So off I went for a couple of hours in the glorious sunshine. A bit of open rocky stuff, meadows, riverside trail and bush whacking/tree scrambling as there had been some freshly felled trees over one of the trails.

I can certainly see why so many people run here and why ultra distance is popular, I felt like I could have kept going for a long time. Knees are still hurting a bit on the downhills though.

Trail Running 1:30:00 [3]

Since we are still just leaving Weeanimal at the Creche for the morning I had a small window to get out for a run. I walked her down there, scooted back to change and headed out the back door for a run. Another gorgeous day and I decided to tour around the back side of the mountain, come through Col de Pre Vernet and down to the Talabar and back. Perfect amount of time to come get the Chariot and run down to the Creche to get Weeanimal. The good news is that she had a great morning and even ate a little bit of lunch.

I have also taken the time to learn how to put photos on here using photobucket (an idiot can do it - no comments please) so our logs should be a little more interesting from here on in. I think I may also pick a running race to do in a couple of months to keep me motivated. Not that I need much more than the mountains but it will be good to get my butt kicked by some speedy Euros.

Paddling 30:00 [1]

I get to log a total of about 30 minutes here since Weeanimal decided to take a more ACTIVE role in todays paddle. We set off down the east side of the lake toward Talloires. A gorgeous sunny day so the lake was getting busy but most people were watching some sort of race that was taking place. We saw many riders (2 of about 1500 had helmets on) and then a whole bunch of runners with batons. Turns out it was a ride and tie event. We really have to get "in the know" here.

Weenimal getting ready to paddle. Thanks for the cool shorts Aunt Bash!

Phatty picking up our lunch baguette while we held on to the dock and 1500 people went by running and cycling. Gotta love this city!

We got as far as Roc de Chere before we found a spot to have lunch and a swim. It was beautiful but busy as it was also a great spot to go cliff jumping. Weeanimal and I splashed around for a bit and then we made the long trip home with me wrestling a tired toddler in the boat while Phatty paddled. Next time I think we will just stick to going to the beach in Veyrier.

Some thoughts on Scotland (Warning: VERY DISORGANIZED)
