Trail Running 1:55:00 [3]

The morning was chilly and cold but as soon as Weeanimal was fed and Phatty (who is now sick) and her were ready for a nap I headed out in the sunshine to the Semnoz. Awesome mix of rocky, soft, roots and mossy singletrack. Perfect temperature.

Trekking 2:00:00 [1]

Weenanimal is being a HANDFUL so I decided that the only way I wasn't going to throw her off a cliff is if she is on my back. The plan was to hike over to Veyrier du Lac via the trails and have lunch and a swim at the park but when we got there I realized in my frustration of trying to get out the door quickly I forgot my wallet. Great. Now I have a sick, cranky, HUNGRY child on my back. Oh well, home we went and she managed to last to wolf down a crepe wrap that I made for lunch. Store bought crepe I might add because no matter how many times and ways I try to make them myself they still get stuck to the bottom of the pan. I am determined to be able to make them by the time we come home. Any advice anyone. Seems like it would be simple but I still can't manage.

Trail Running 2:50:00 [3]

Have to take advantage while Phatty is at home and knowing that Weeanimal won't be able to go to the Creche tomorrow because she has a steady stream of snot dripping down her face.

Explored some new trails around the mountain behind our house. Felt pretty good but the knees are still a little sore. Went over on my ankle about 20 minutes in but it didn't amount to much. I used my poles the entire time and loved it.

Saw a couple of things that amazed me (As I usually do here in France).

The first one was a pleasant surprise. I was rounding the far end of the mountain and starting to climb back up on a trail when I bumped into a woman coming down. She smiled politely and said "Bonjour" in her mid-calf length dress and white button down shirt while happily trekking along with a stick as a pole (not a light weight carbon fibre one like I was using). Oh, did I mention that she had to be AT LEAST 80 years old. I am not exaggerating. And then I climbed and climbed. There were no turn offs so she had to come from where I was going. Incredible.

The other 3 things were not so "smile inducing". One was a family riding along a very busy (narrow obviously) road, the Dad had his son on his back in a hiking backpack and the Mom was behind with another toddler in an infant seat. None were wearing helmets. I don't even feel safe riding on these roads by myself with a helmet on. Mind you I do feel safer than at home even thought the roads are narrower because cyclists are everywhere and drivers tend to be watching for them.

Number two was a man wearing a Bib short speedo outfit for swimming.

The third was this woman who is (I am guessing here because it is hard to tell) about 50-60 years old who I see almost every day down at the docks sunning herself from morning until evening and she is so scary dark. It just makes my skin crawl. She is literally out there for 8 hours a day.

Anyway, another great run and some more amazing trails out the back door.
