Classic skiing 30:00 [3]

This was my total time over about 2 1/2 hours as I was on Weeanimal duty today up at the plateau while Phatty skied with some friends. Bluebird day and it was downright hot. The Wee one and I did some running around, snow eating, lunch at a beautiful chalet outside in the sun and then I decided we better return to meet Phatty. On the way back she fell asleep right before a steep descent. Luckily I managed to stay upright and Phatty and I sat outside in the snow for about 45 minutes before she woke up. Glorious day...hard to wipe the smile off of my face, even when I was lugging Weeanimal up the hills. photos to come, I promise.

Cardio power and resistance. I should be a rocket on skis tomorrow.

Road Running 1:05:00 [4]

Legs are gassed but managed to get around the loop 5 times. Silly part was that my recovery stretches were mostly uphill. Have to pick a better route next time.

5 times 1km suffering.

Core Conditioning 32:00 [2]

Cardio recovery. Low on the cardio but high on the thigh burning squats and lunges. Ouch. Phatty missed this one as he decided to skip out on us on Valentine's day and join some colleagues for a run up the ski hills at La Clusaz. I didn't even get to enjoy our patisserie treats with anyone as Weeanimal decided to throw more of her food on the floor thereby not deserving hers. She was so close too. Ate her entire meal down to the last 3 peas but she couldn't resist flinging them. Kicked up a fuss but this Momma held strong......and it wasnt just a ploy so I could eat her fondue au chocolat. We'll see if she can leave the food on her plate tomorrow.

Trail Running 2:10:00 [3]

Well I am not sure why 48 hours of snow didn't have me pack my snowshoes today but I didn't. Therefore I ended up post holing through knee deep snow for almost an hour. I interspersed it with a very high knee running style. This actually wasnt too bad since we do that a lot in our Insanity workouts.

Decided not to go over the top of the Col des Contrabandiers since there was a large dark cloud over the top and yes, I forgot my snowshoes and gators. Ran down into Veryier du Lac and then along the waterfront to the vieille ville and back.

On my way there I saw a woman in her bathing suit near the beach. No way! I ran by and kept turning around to see if she was going to put on a wetsuit. Nope. I was a ways away by the time she went in but it was just a two piece swimsuit. Crazy. It wasnt even nice and sunny out. One of those damp days. I got a pic from far away but she was gone by the time I got back. Crazy. I almost blurted out "vous ĂȘtes folle" but I didn't know if she would take that as a compliment, which it was.

Legs are feeling stronger.

Core Conditioning 42:00 [4]

Plyometric circuit. Killer sweatfest. At least I know our floor is clean since I have to mop it every day. Phatty and I had to keep moving around to avoid the pools of sweat that are hard to do push-ups on. Gross.

Getting better but the plank push-up running bumpy things are still hard.

Strength training 1:20:00 [3]

This was some solid shoveling time. Weeanimal was not impressed to be watching me shovel instead of building her a snowman! I encouraged her to eat as much snow as she wanted but she decided to go to Bobby's house instead. For the record I have NO idea who this Bobby is. She just says it all the time. Lets go to Bobby's house, let's go! She would go around the side of the house and return saying she had been to Bobby's house.

Heavy, heavy snow. 36 hours the snow has been falling. My form did start to suffer near the end so I called it quits when Weeanimal was not having fun anymore. I'll have to go back out and finish though or Phatty won't be getting in the driveway. I shoveled our neighbors spots first. Oh and now I see the plow has come by and dumped all of the street snow at the end of the drive. I might leave that one for Phatty.

Core Conditioning 42:00 [4]

Pure cardio workout today and the final exercise was push-up jacks. I just about died. I do think I am getting stronger though.

Classic skiing 1:00:00 [2]

I was on my x-adventure skis that I got to use up in Kangiqsualujjuak last year but never ended up using them. There is so much snow that I was able to ski up the road to the trails and go up for a bit before I had to turn around. The snow is so deep and heavy that I could not herringbone up the steep parts to get up further so I decided to just have fun going back down. It's only about zero degrees so I can't see the snow sticking around for long. There are a lot of cars in our neighborhood that have just slid off to the side of the road and will probably be picked up when the snow melts. Glad we got the snow tires because I had to trust them when I was forced to go around people who were stuck. The little golf isn't so bad.

Strength training 20:00 [3]

I am totally logging this. By the time I got back from grocery shopping the snow was really heavy and deep. I was sweating like crazy from shoveling.

Sunday Feb 10, 2013 #

Trail Running 1:45:00 [2]

Steady but slower effort up to Col des Sauts then around the back and down. Another sunny day and from one of the turns on the trail that comes right out to the cliff edge I could see Weeanimal and Phatty playing the back yard in the snow.

Fun to run down the trail in the snow. Quite a few large trees have fallen across the trail. Good thing I don't typically run with headphones in as I would want to hear one of these coming at me.

Core Conditioning 40:00 [4]

Phatty and I were both pretty tired today but we are sticking to the plan. Some of the upper body stuff felt better which is a good sign. I am just glad that we don't have a carpet.
