Mountain Biking 1:30:00 [3]

Very fun mountain bike on the Mandallaz behind Seb and Amarion's new house. The trail is literally beside their house. Marion and I went out after the boys. No rain which was nice because the rocks are slick to begin with.

So much fun to be out on the mountain bike again and riding on trails that the 29er is meant to be ridden on.

Road Riding 2:20:00 [3]

Another beautiful fall day called for a road ride. After barely making it up our hill with groceries on my back on my city bike I swapped it out for my road bike. The weather is supposed to be crappy this weekend which sucks for Phatty so I figured I should get in something a little longer in case there is a window on the weekend, he deserves it. I headed through Naves Parmelan and then Villaz and from there went west toward Mandallaz and back home. Gorgeous day and perfect temperature for riding.

I had a slow leak in my rear tire that I had to stop and pump up periodically but I am glad that I didn't have to change the tube because I only had one lever and I know I wouldn't have gotten the tire off with just one lever.

Tired at the end of it but that's because I have been slacking.

Road Running 45:00 [3]

Dropped my new (very old) bike off at Weeanimal's school and went for a run before coming back to get her. I bought a very well used, very french city bike and threw a used seat for Weeanimal on the back. Now we can get around quickly without having to park anywhere and can lock the bike up without fearing that it will be stolen. The only problem is I haven't fixed the back brake yet so there isn't one and the whole thing kinda feels like it's going to fall apart. I think it's because Weeanimal is pretty heavy so her weight shifting makes me nervous. The handlebars are also bent so that the grips are parallel to the bike. This means if I have to take a sharp corner they hit my knees. It's such a different feel to my other bikes that it looks like I have never ridden a bike at all before. Only ones out there with helmet on both Mom and toddler though. Maybe the other people have more confidence in riding with their kid on the back.

I wish I could throw some extra gears on there too. Damn it's hard to get up the hill to our house. Especially when Weeanimal is bitching at me to go faster when we are almost at a stand still and my quads are on fire. I suppose I could log it as an interval workout every day.

Trail Running 2:10:00 [3]

Stellar morning run up to Pre Vernet and then on to Mont Baron via Creux de Loup (also known as "Wolf Hollow". I heard some snorty barking in the woods which scared the crap out of me so I ended up carrying a couple of heavy rocks for a while. Probably a Sanglier (okay I just listened to sounds of a wild boar on youtube and it was definitely a wild boar) but they are just as scary as a wolf. Had a nice chat with some folks at Mont Baron. The one woman was an English teacher so she spoke in English and I spoke in French. They understood me so that was a plus.

Absolutely stunning fall day.

Getting the cold that Weeanimal has had for a week. Can't believe it took this long.

Mountain Biking 1:45:00 [1]

With the fam along the bike trail. Stopped in Saint Jorioz for a play the park and then some lunch. Discovered a new beautiful beach to go to next summer. I had the added pleasure of towing Weeanimal along since Phatty's bike isn't designed for it. Some serious people dodging on the trail as it was pretty busy since it was a perfect day. Gives lots of motivation to chase and pass though. Weeanimal is constantly yelling "go faster" no matter how fast I am going.
