Training Log Archive: Leanimal

Got a later start than I wanted since BigE and Wee didn't get up until 8am. This heat is absolutely killing us. Up to Col de Leschaux and back since I don't want to leave my mom with the two kids for too long. The poor woman has not been out of the house in a week and the really crummy part is that we have to keep all of the shades down so it is black in here. I started the climb and passed a woman who looked about 65 at km1. I noticed she picked up the pace to stick with me and did so for the next 10km before she fell off and I caught a guy who passed us at km2. Of course he saw me and picked up the pace until the top so I had to work hard in the heat to finish. Ran an errand of picking up some more wool for my mom to knit something else since she has finished all of her projects.

I forget how much progress I have made in french until I have a 10 minute conversation with the ladies at the wool store and understand everything (I think).

Took Wee to the lake but we only made it to bottom of the street and not the beach (too far and too hot - that's right another 500m is too far). The corporate games are on right now so we swam amongst the dragon boat races. It doesn't look like this heat is going to break anytime soon either.

C • Heat 3

Spotted Jörn and Evelyn dropping their son Matti off at school in their bike gear so I desperately begged if I could ride with them. They were kind enough to wait for me to run home and change before we set off for Col de L'epine on the back side of the Tournette. Nice ride with some reroutes du to lots of road construction and once again it's a scorcher. I will have to pick Mari up at school and we will go straight to the lake again.

Canada Day ride to col de leschaux. Damn hot out there at 9:30 in the morning already.

Well it's hot hot hot here in France but luckily I can get out in the morning after dropping Wee at school. Also not bad on the bike since you get a breeze. Front side ride up the Semnoz which was better on my bike this time. Nice shouts of encouragement from hikers and other bikers as they were descending.

Descended via Leschaux with a small group. Not exactly the thousands I will have to deal with at Etape but I am usually on my own.

Just feeling back to normal after another weird bout of sickness. Flu like symptoms but no vomiting.
