Riding indoor (Trainer) 45:00 [4]

Like I said my friend got me a cheap gym membership and this is the only way I am going to get my cycling in before the days get longer and I can go at night or in the morning.

The timing is tricky though because I drop Mari at school for 8:45 then get on the ironworkers bridge which was busy today at 9, go to the gym while the boy plays in the child minding area, then try to hustle home so he can nap before getting Mari at 2pm. I really don't want to screw E-Dawg over because this essentially means he only gets one nap and I know he wants two. We'll see how it goes.

Anyway I was able to use the spin bikes in the studio even though there wasn't a class and I had the place to myself. I started effing around with the AV equipment since it looked like I could start my own video on a small screen. Then a large one started scrolling down from the ceiling and I panicked and ran to the front to see if I was allowed to do this. Turns out because I have the mad Daddy membership that I can so I loaded up a class and rode a hard class for 45 minutes. It was great except that it was one of those typical spin classes with the techno beats on and two dudes fist pumping one another at the head of the class. One of them even said "okay lets slap it" and slapped his bike. WTF? I do think that I can choose some videos that are of actual rode rides though but i didn't see those until later. Next time.

If I can get in the habit of doing a spin class then follow it up with a 30 minute strength class I just might be able to swing that before rushing home to get Ewen to bed.

Today he melted down on the way home, fell asleep as I was backing the car in, and then didn't get back to sleep in bed for another 40 minutes. We'll work on it.

Trail Running 1:15:00 [3]

Left from the house and had planned on mostly road but that's hard to do when you keep seeing trails. A lot of gravel trail but some single track through parks. Wet and muddy.

Trail Running 2:10:00 [3]

Dare I even come back? Well, I have to. The girls and I have signed up for Ireland in August and I have my work cut out for me to get back into shape. This two kids thing makes that SIGNIFICANTLY more challenging but we are starting to settle in to life in North Van so hopefully a consistent schedule will help. A classmate of mine from chiro college and a woman that I am going to work with come October gave me a $250 membership for Good Life. Now as much as I HATE the gym I have no options. They have child minding and since I have a child I need them so to the gym I go. The downer is it is in Burnaby but the drive is only 15 minutes so it's not bad. I'm trying not to think about how much more driving I have to do here because it's depressing.

BUT this run was thankfully outside on the trails in the Lynn headwaters. It was POURING the entire time so I was sufficiently soaked but like I said it was outside and the trails are technical and beautiful.
