Orienteering race (Hambledon) 2:05:04 [4] *** 17.0 km (7:21 / km) +710m 6:05 / km
spiked:24/27c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

R Knee - 1 - No pain
Shins - 1 - No pain
L Knee - 1 - No pain

TVOC Southern Champs - M21E - Hambledon

The best I've felt on a classic race. Maybe due to fast terrain but I paced it well and was running pretty strongly throughout, no real drop off in second half. Probably could have gone out a bit harder. Knee/ankles/hip good, still descending well at the end.
----------
Fine nav wasn't too tricky but lots of route choices. Picked quite straight routes and took on climb as the going was fast. Although going round at c18 was best. Lost ~1:30 by visiting both drinks points, think I needed it though. Bit annoyed to miss 2hr mark again.

Mistakes ~4:30 min
(12)(0:15) - Searching for depr. in brambles
(13)(0:45) - Poor exit bearing from c12 added distance
(14)(2:00) - Long leg route was good but poor bearing from path and missed the well hidden depr.
(22)(1:30) - Must have been 10m from it but overshot. Many more rhodos than mapped.

JOK Chasing Sprints - Prologue - Shotover

Felt ok on the flat in Brasenose but really sluggish going up the hills
----------
Near perfect navigationally, but I knew the area very well.

JOK Chasing Sprints - Chase - Shotover

A bit out of position for the chase after a really good run in the prologue. Madness at the start and felt like lots of people overtook me, let the train go and did my own nav which helped me hang on and take 2 places back near the end to limit losses to 5 places.
----------
Cocked up c1 and c2 the start as did many others, then followed train round to c6. Lost the pack going up the hill and from there on navigated well.

Mistakes ~1:00 min
(1) (0:30) - Confused position of start kite and mis-counted paths
(2) (0:15) - Headless chicken with ~15 others
(11)(0:15) - Bad line through brambles
