Strength 15:00 [1]

Hip mobility

Knee was fine over the weekend. PF was ok, but is now sore. First time running back to back days and for longer than 1hr. Will rest it up. Forgotten how generally wrecked the rest of you can feel after tough terrain running.

Orienteering race (High Dam) 1:11:28 [4] **** 6.3 km (11:21 / km) +320m 9:03 / km
ahr:154 max:177 spiked:10/17c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340 V

Northern Champs - M35S (C9) - High Dam

Entered shorter course as not sure how foot was going to be. Went in a bit overconfident thinking it would be easier nav and running today, but it was tough on both fronts. More techniques were required, but I was rusty and brain wasn't always in gear, didn't push too hard, but it was great having one of the first starts and running through the top part alone.

Mistakes ~7:00mins
(1)(0:30) - misjudged scale/distance - lots of unmapped open?
(3)(2:00) - parallel error off some crags, dropped down slope too far
(9)(0:15) - poor exit direction - drifted right. reloc
(10)(0:45) - poor direction - not focussing on compass. reloc
(11)(1:15) - Stupidly ran into a uncrossable wall dead-end mid-leg then missed control
(16)(0:45) - thinking of the finish too early, didn't read detail
(17)(1:30) - thinking of the finish too early, poor exit direction down slope

Pos: 5/32

Orienteering (Summerhouse Knott) 52:39 [4] ***** 4.8 km (10:58 / km) +295m 8:23 / km
ahr:167 max:182 22c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340 V

British Middle Champs - M21 - Summerhouse Knott

Mostly in the steep rocky forest, with a small loop in the more runnable bit at the end. Took it steady and careful with the navigation and it payed off. Happy and surprised with the result. A good reminder. Ok at the line-o style detailed stuff and it didn't show up my relative lack of fitness. Some v small mistakes and silly RC on the long leg but otherwise clean.

Mistakes ~2:30mins
(1)(0:15) - Banana avoiding climb/undergrowth too much
(3)(0:15) - Hesitant, but ok many lost time here
(7)(0:30) - Distracted by another control - reloc
(12)(1:15) - Long leg slow to contour on steep rocky slope should have taken on more climb
(13)(0:15) - Hesitated, didn't read enough detail

Pos: 33/72 (30th Brit)

Bit quicker round the Kidmore End loop. Knee still a bit dodgy but think the problem was my toe tightening up rather than hips

Note

Physio (JC)
Call discussing next steps with foot. Much better although not totally gone. Ok to start increasing running. Keep to every other day. Reduce strength exercises to 2/3 times a week.
