time includes some of the warm up as I put in a solid effort to get to the start on time!
During this run to the start it became clear that the ~2000m altitude was having an effect. so my strategy was to chill out and pace my currently flabby body. this also gave me time to enjoy what is easily the most scenic orienteering event i've ever done. Over the top of a famous alps pass on a clear day after snow fell overnight. awesome fell terrain with lots of challenges despite no trees as well. physically I struggled but walked away with a lot of experience. got caught and dropped by lots of elites, but I realised I could hang on to them easily because they weren't navigating as well as me, and needlessly wobbling through the terrain. only time loss in the first 90 minutes was 1 minute in which I followed one of these elites, and 20seconds where I had to have a piss... in the last 5 minutes I lost a lot of time as I totally hit the wall and stopped navigating. was in 27th up until that point which I woulda been happy with, but 35th will have to do.
finishes off a good week of training, after 3 attempts to restart training after woc, foiled by laziness/conference in London, achilles, and food poisoning in France.
