Note
slept:9.0 (rest day)

Very tired when I woke up today. Slept for longer than usual and been drowsy all day. Might be a sign that I'm comming down with something, will see tomorrow. Need to concetrate on study anyway, which is hard when all you want to do is sleep.

Swimming (1200m Freestyle) 35:00 [4] 1.2 km (29:10 / km)

Chasing lines at the Valley Baths.
Was heeeaps better today. Borrowed a pair of goggles from Simey which made things heaps easier and more pleasant (can actually see now). Managed to do 400m in one go twice. Might actually be able to go the whole distance on the day.

Wasn't running well, the brain that is... legs were fine. Made 3 wrong turns, at 12, 7 and 6. Better eat fish to boost my bogas brain!

Running tempo (Smashfest) 25:03 [5] 5.1 km (4:55 / km)
slept:7.5 shoes: Asics GT-2130

Was a real struggle with the humiditiy today. Still, very surprisied with the time, thought it would be heaps slower.

Running warm up/down 5:50 [2] 1.0 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

An effort.

Swimming (800m Freestyle) 30:00 [3] 0.8 km (37:30 / km)
slept:8.5

With the Not the Noosa Tri just around the corner, and my would-be team mate going solo leaving me to do the race on my own too, I thought it was time to start chasing lines.
This is the first time I have ever swum more than 50m in a pool in one go since about grade 7 (1999)... so I had no idea what to expect. It was an effort. A big effort. I struggled, but with a few tips from the kiosk dude, I was already breaking my 100m PB by 5 seconds every lap (no way am I posting my best 100m thoguh...). Now I'm stuffed, my legs are sore, my arms are aching and I can barely see through this chlorine cloud.
Still... was good and I'll be back for more

Mountain Biking 2:05:00 [3] 25.0 km (12.0 kph)
slept:8.0 weight:64kg

MTB with Matt R & Olly in Daisy Hill
Getting heaps better on the tracks here. Turning Japanese and Tunnel of Love are probably the best tracks there. Matt won the stack of the day with a super impressive T-bone over a log; almost cracked a rib.

Running hills (Saturday Group Long Run) 1:16:00 [4] 14.4 km (5:17 / km)
slept:7.5 shoes: Asics GT-2130

From JC Slaughter Falls with Olly
Can't really call this a long run, more an extended Smashfest. Took it fairly easy down the hills, but going up the hills went pretty hard.

Orienteering race (Park-O) 25:10 [4] ** 5.1 km (4:56 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Limestone Park
Was a pretty good course and went alright too. Manged to lose a bit of time inside most of the circles, and one certain thicket turned out to be a single tree. Completely gutted that an unnamed non-runner beat me today after that person had an epic day of bodyboarding and a few litres of blood lost from a stack.

Orienteering race (Mid-Week) 49:10 [3] *** 6.8 km (7:14 / km)
slept:8.5 shoes: Jalas Olway

Bunyaville West (1:10,000)
Long (5km)
Was pretty warm today. Messed up a couple of controls and took a bad exit direction out of 2 so ended up going super wide.

Mountain Biking 1:10:00 [3] 15.0 km (12.9 kph)

MTB in Bunyaville after the O event with Matt R and Olly. Was pretty tired and the way I was gearing up the hills on my bike was all wrong.

Wednesday Oct 22, 2008 #

Street-O race 31:38 [4] * 7.15 km (4:25 / km)
18c shoes: Asics GT-2130

Forest Lake (1:10,000)
Long
Good to get back into street smashing. Felt pretty good tonight. A bit sloppy in the 1st 3rd to the south and could have had a better route up north. All up though, good 1st effort.

Note

Was going to go for Smashfest today but by the time I was about to leave, there was an insane storm with hail on its way... more worried about car than me.

Running long (Saturday Group Long Run) 1:52:00 [4] 22.0 km (5:05 / km)
slept:6.0 shoes: Asics GT-2130

From Thor's
Was the fastest long run over 20km I think I've ever done. Powered up every hill with ease and back down the other side at a blistering pace.
Started from Thor's, flew through the cemetary, smashed it up Slaughter Falls to the lookout, down Chapel Hill, round to Gap Creek, up Quail & 3 Sisters to Ch 9, round to lookout again, down Frosty's (almost ended up on the Western Freeway), Taringa Parade then hard through the second half of Smashfest in Anzac Park home.
Thanks Olly for a good hard run.

Mountain Biking 1:05:00 [3] 21.0 km (19.4 kph)

Bit of a late afternoon cruise around the Ferny from Matt Ryder's place with him and Olly after a well-needed service on my bike.

Mountain Biking 2:15:00 [3] 28.0 km (12.4 kph) +1050m

Had a pretty awesome session of MTB down in Daisy Hill with Simey. Thought the tracks would be super soggy and sloshy but was pretty perfect. A bit of light rain, but the nice cool weather was a good change. Realised that some of the tracks are in fact heaps better in a certain direction. Found some pretty awesome tracks on the Underwood Park side of the road that were pretty long and fun. Simon had about 4 or 5 "graceful bails" but no stacks today from either which was good.

Running warm up/down 5:30 [3] 1.0 km (5:30 / km)
(rest day) shoes: Asics GT-2130

Well... Street-O - was kinda looking forward to this. Rocked up and paid. Got ready. Did the warm-up. A bit showery but all ok, a bit of lightening around. Even gave a crash course to a group of newbies in Street-O 101. Then that was it. Called off - too much lightening apparently. Should have put in a lotto entry today! Back home again.

Running warm up/down 12:20 [3] 2.22 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Running tempo (Smashfest) 26:02 [5] 5.1 km (5:06 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Not good today. Maybe I had lunch too close, maybe I'm tired from uni, maybe something else... I dunno. Very upsetting.

Running warm up/down 5:40 [2] 1.0 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Orienteering race (Golden O Shoe Relay) 22:30 [4] *** 4.0 km (5:38 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Anzac Park
Red A (3.2 km)
Feeling pretty good after yesterday before the run. Wasn't expecting much though, fairly tight legs.
Pretty intense off from the mass start. Good fun darting in and out of each control though.

Orienteering race (Golden O Shoe Relay) 19:05 [3] *** 3.25 km (5:52 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Anzac Park
Long B (2.7 km)
Pretty rooted after the first loop's smash (treated it like a bit of a Smashfest). Still, got around ok.

Walking 15:00 [1] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Control collection after lunch. Sooooo tight.

Running long (Saturday Group Long Run) 2:25:30 [4] 26.2 km (5:33 / km) +1230m 4:30 / km
slept:6.0 shoes: Asics GT-2130

From Bridget's. Where was the rest of the crew? Soft.
Anyway, ran this one with Olly. Was planning on running 1:45 to 2 hours, but yeah... underestimated again.
Probably the furtharest I've ever done for a Saturday run. Was going pretty damn well for the lot. Will be hurting tomorrow though. Enjoyed running through the drizzley rain. Thanks Olly.

Running warm up/down 11:40 [3] 2.22 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Running tempo (Smashfest) 24:47 [5] 5.1 km (4:52 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Was feeling really good for this one. Powering up every hill, racing down the other side. Going hard, thinking "yeah, I should get a sweet time - mid 23". Smashing it up every hill right to the end, didn't sorta die at up the back like normal. Racing round the final bend and finish - and... oh. Shit time. Bad time. Very bad time. :(

Running warm up/down 6:00 [2] 1.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Running long 50:00 [3] 8.2 km (6:06 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

Running long 1:33:00 [4] 16.4 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130

First long run in 3 weeks (apart from Classic dist O race epics). First 50 with Ian T, Ian A and Julia D. The rest was on my own which was hard.
I always bight off more than I can chew in these runs - had to cut it "short" from what I was planning to do, still rediculously long. Totally wasted now. More of these will be good though.
