Conditioning (Hathaway road) 48:23 [3] 8.1 km (5:58 / km) +180ft 5:47 / km
slept:7.0 weight:188lbs shoes: Feelmax Kuusa

Barefoot "intervals": 1600m in "shoes", 1600m barefoot, repeat, finished the last 1600m in shoes (if you call Feelmax Kuusa'a shoes:) I felt like I broke another barrier today finishing 8k in under 50:00! (and after an O race as well). Recovery is definitely better barefoot "like", or maybe it was the lack of climb in the course. It is definitely becoming more and more natural the less I wear on my feet, but I am still running about 8-10 sec. per mile slower barefoot. I would like to reduce my weight back down below 185. I am eating too many grains and not enough greens (mainly due to ab busy schedule).

Orienteering race 1:14:58 [4] **** 10.55 km (7:06 / km) +192ft 6:55 / km
spiked:21/25c slept:9.0 weight:186lbs shoes: Inov-8 Talon 212

Before the race I decided to focus more on relaxing, taking short strides and landing mid-foot, as opposed to trying to run at break-neck speed because my lower back has been bothering me. I felt very comfortable the whole race, and didn't really make any navigational errors. It was a fun course.

Conditioning (Treadmill) 36:00 [3] 5.0 km (7:12 / km)
slept:8.0 weight:186.8lbs shoes: Barefoot

Cleared the driveway and then decided to run inside today. I am having a pretty bad relapse in my degenerative disk disease recently with pretty consistent pain and discomfort in my lower back and pelvic girdle. I have been somewhat inconsistent in my PT which may be the cause, but otherwise there is not anyone event that I can point to that caused the inflammation. I do remember the pain beginning before Tennessee, but it only seems to be getting worse...unfortunately I may not be able to orienteer in the snow tomorrow...:(
