run long 2:02:59 [3] 25.2 km (4:53 / km)
shoes: Nike Equalon 2

After much indecision ended up being a softie yesterday and did nothing. Felt very uninspired when I got up early and thought about the fun that could have been had at Hill PArk Dale.
Set out deliberately easier than last weekend, with my thigh taped in a rough imitation of what I used in Caffeinated 2 years ago. Got the taping a bit wrong and it was making my hamstring sore so I loosened it after a few minutes. Took the strip that went right round my leg off at about hte 30 minute mark, just leaving the 2 strips across the front. Didn't feel like it was doing much, but hip flexor was better than it had been on any long runs recently.
Was feeling pretty cruisy for the majority of it, but started to feel the pinch as I aproached 20km and legs seized up pretty badly by the end. A bit of stubbornness made me add an extra loop at the end just to make it past 2 hours, but it probably wasn't a smart move. So sore now I can hardly walk.

Windtrainer 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Avanti Blade

Too much of a wuss to brave the weather, so took the bike into school and did an hour of nothing special on the trainer in the gym instead.

Note

Meant to double up on the windtrainer to replace the ride home, but struck by a serious case of Fridayafternoonitis.

run (beach) 1:01:15 [3] 10.0 km (6:08 / km)
shoes: barefoot

Regular Friday morning beach run a day early as I had to return some CPR mannekins to Royal Life before heading in to work, and have to be at a meeting this arvo by 3pm back in Doublrview, so riding to work was a no-go. Will ride tomorrow instead.

Windtrainer 50:00 [4]
shoes: Avanti Blade

Did a bit of a warm-up, planning on just rolling along at low-moderate intensity for a while to get the legs feeling normal after last night. Got bored and started cranking it up one gear every 5 minutes, until I couldn't go any further, then cooldown. Ended up 2 gears above what I do my regular windtrainer efforts at, so it was pretty darn hard for about 15 minutes. Legs felt shattered all evening.

run race (5km TT) 17:05 [5] 5.0 km (3:25 / km)
shoes: Asics 3000

Feeling pretty positive about this one, despite missing intervals for the last 2 weeks. Had the added incentive of Osar giving me an 18 second headstart to keep me honest. Thought I started well and was a bit deflated to have him on my shoulder by the 1.5km mark. Stayed on my limits thru the entire run and felt like I was striding out better and pushing harder than I've done on this loop for ages. Oscar sat on me for the rest of the run and never got past. Time is an all time PB by 13 seconds I think. It's more than 30 seconds faster than I've run in the last 5 years. Pity the course has changed, with Durston Rd now paved as there's no great way to figure out how much faster that makes the loop. Still very happy.

run warm up/down 20:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 3000
