Note

Wore a HR monitor for the ride in just for laughs. average of 122... must have been riding about as hard as I walk...
6 AM

cycle (commute) 1:01:30 [3] 29.0 km (2:07 / km)
ahr:122 max:149 shoes: Avanti Blade

Felt terrible as expected. Struggled all the way and felt like I was always a gear or 2 lower than normal just to keep the legs spinning. Turns out the time was not so bad. Maybe being in a lower gear was more a result of almost all my recent riding being on a windtrainer where I probably spin my legs a little faster than my usual high gear grind on the road. Not really looking forward to repeating the dose this arvo, or tomorrow, or Wednesday...
4 PM

cycle (commute) 1:04:15 [3] 29.0 km (2:13 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Could have done without the south westerly this arvo. Generally felt OK, but legs felt pretty sore when I had to stop at lights and wait. Tired now. Don't know how I'm going to hold up for the rest of the week. I think I'd be enjoying it if I was healthy.

Note
(sick)

Pretty much felt like crap all weekend, so after being woken up 2 minutes before my alarm on Saturday by daughter #1 and promptly turning the alarm off and sleeping in, I did nothing.
Had another sleep in today, then decided a long run would be counterproductive, given how rubbish I felt and the fact that I'll be riding my bike to work all week (after hardly riding for months) as the car will be at the panelbeater.
Bye bye fitness.

10 AM

run 20:00 [2] 3.5 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: TEVA X-1 Control

Got a bit of a shock doing fitness testing with year 8's this morning. Turned up in trackies and my non-running shoes figuring it wouldn't take much to jog through a couple of beep tests with the little'uns.
First half a guy made 12.3, second half 10.1 - by far the best class I've had in my 2 and a bit years at the school. Got a bit hot and a bit more of a run than I wanted on my non-running day...

6 AM

run (Fartlek) 58:32 [4] 10.23 km (5:43 / km) +44m 5:36 / km
shoes: barefoot

9ish min of warm-up from school down to the beach, then 10 x 2:2 fartlek. Legs felt pretty stiff and sorry after not stretching enough in the aftermath of my first proper intervals session in a while. Got a bit better as I went, but probably not at the intensity they should have been. Better use the HR monitor for the fartlek sessions to keep myself honest if I'm going to run them on sand...
Cooldown back up the hill to school. Half way there when I got a phone call saying that 4 kids (biggest turnout so far) were waiting for xcountry training. Pity they turned up on the wrong day... I took them out anyway coz I wanted to be encouraging.

Obviously I wasn't barefoot running on the footpath, but can;t select 2 pairs of shoes for the one session...

11 AM

run 15:00 [2] 2.5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Equalon 2

2 x through the beep test with some pathetic year 9's, similar to yesterday (which i didn't bother logging). Knee a bit grumpy about all the turns (hence bothering to record this...

1:45.3 3:00.0

Last years times (June) for the same session. Feel a bit less crap about the effort now.
5 PM

run hills 50:00 [4] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Kswiss somethings

Time/distance approx. CAn't be bothered working it out.

8 reps of Kalinda in sets of 3,3,2. First set jog back, 2nd and 3rd jog back +30sec, 3 min between sets.

Still not feeling 100% so started pretty conservatively, and given the massive rest (about 3 min to jog down) was only just hitting the intensity I should have been aiming at by the end
1:54, 1:55, 1:54
1:49, 1:49, 1:49
1:43, 1:41

Chris was off in front of me at the start (he started with a 1:49) then we ran the second 2 sets together. Won't be long before he is leaving me behind.
