run 29:07 [5] 7.7 km (3:47 / km) +126m 3:30 / km
shoes: x talon 190.2

Warm-up told me that this course might be the one the most to my liking of the entire season, so I decided to start hard, treat it like a 5km run, and hang on at the end to see if I could pull out something a bit better than where I've felt stuck recently.
For the most part I was happy, but still feel like I didn't really commit to pushing up the last hill, or really the last descent. A bit mentally weak, considering I realised as I turned up the start of the last climb, I realised the course was going to be a long way short of the advertised 8.5km.

I caught myself thinking on the way down that if there was someone next to me, I'd be going harder, which is a fair indication that I haven't rediscovered that urge to push into the hurty zone running solo yet.

Had been a tiny bit apprehensive about a second run in a row without orthotics and heel raises (still at work) but felt good throughout.

run warm up/down 18:00 [3] 3.5 km (5:09 / km) +49m 4:48 / km
shoes: x talon 190.2

Warm-up for Harriers Newmacarra Farm run. Course looked nice. The course director said he was worried people would complain about it being too fought and rocky, which got me interested, but didn't get to that bit on the WU. (Turns out it was all pretty good, only a little bit rocky for a few km in the middle, but with some nice little climbs in it.
Run thrus not on GPS trace (but they did happen)

run 58:05 [2] 12.18 km (4:46 / km) +48m 4:41 / km
shoes: Saucony Mirage 3

This was meant to be my long run for the week, but I picked a point too close to home to get dropped off on the way home from seeing the wildflowers at Mullewa. My heart wasn't in it, my body wasn't really either, and I'd left my orthotics and heel raises in my other shoes at work on Thursday night, so was also a little wary of overdoing it.

Felt really flat at the start, marginally better in the middle, but not enjoying it again by the end, so happy to take the shortest way home and call it a day.

run 51:30 [2] 10.2 km (5:03 / km)
shoes: x-talon 190

After work trundle around the river loop.
After a day of standing around getting very dehydrated and teaching basketball, high jump, hurdles (ouch) and javelin (another speciality that I never even did at school) my legs felt absolutely shattered for the first kilometre of so, but going OK after that and really enjoyed it.

Why can't I run hills any more? Or is it nothing to do with the hills and more to do with the fact that I don't have the will to push until I'm really hurting any more?
Felt like I was working solidly on the first one and progressively harder for each climb after that. But I always felt almost totally recovered by halfway down, and my legs got going pretty well on the meander home through Wandina afterwards too (pity about the excellent one turn too soon deviation about half way home).

Tempted to head back some time soon with the aim of just doing one rep flat out and seeing what I can do, but I don't really have time on my side to be throwing away sessions on silly things like that.
