8 AM

run warm up/down 10:00 [3] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

Fairly token warm-up. Even more token cool down. Best bit of cool down was going for a walk in the ocean.
9 AM

run race (Runfest 10km) 38:29 [5] 9.94 km (3:52 / km) +4m 3:52 / km
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

How to prepare for a 10km race, by Steve:
Step 1: Don't train
Step 2: Come up with a ridiculous training plan one week before race day
Step 3: Ignore plan
Step 4: Come up with a slightly optimistic pace that you think you can sustain so that you don't blow up by half way
Step 5: Ignore pace. Start way too fast
Step 6: Hang on and see what happens

Seemed to work really well. Ran significantly faster than I thought I could at the moment. Might try it again some time.

run 28:10 [2] 6.21 km (4:32 / km) +20m 4:28 / km
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

Little trundle down to the foreshore for dinner. I didn't go the shortest way. Perhaps my navigation just isn't what it used to be.

Back not 100% but significantly improved on two days ago. Doing some high jump at school probably didn't help the healing process :)

Almost looking forward to Sunday now. Still not motivated enough to get up and run in the morning though.

run 36:17 [2] 7.61 km (4:46 / km) +16m 4:43 / km
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

Run along the foreshore while the girls were dancing.

Legs felt OK. Knee felt totally fine.

Lower back / hamstring shooting nerve pain every step of the way, but that's par for the course on the first few runs back if I get a bit over-zealous stretching in-between.

Have entered the 10km for Runfest on the weekend. Was tempted by the half-marathon so I wouldn't be tempted to 'race,' but without enough chances to run before the weekend, I was worried about my knee complaining with more than 10km to go. Now, the only concern is that I have to beat a Year 10 student who is significantly fitter than me at the moment.
