Note
weight:72.3kg

Seeing as I'm actually trying to get fit(ter) again and I haven't weighed myself for a couple of years, thought I'd jump on the scales to see how fat I am.

Turns out - not very. Will have to re-check that coz I think I must have been fairly dehydrated after running this morning. Don't think I've been that light since my last bout of gastro.

Must be turning old and losing my formerly (not) impressive muscle bulk.
8 AM

run warm up/down 4:00 [3] 0.8 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Rainbow

Token effort at a warm-up after arriving about 7 minutes before the start. Waking up 45 minutes before race start (when it is a 20 minute drive away) is not ideal.

Legs felt heavy from last night's windtrainer, especially heading uphill (as I discovered during the race).
9 AM

run 40:31 intensity: (40 @2) + (9:24 @3) + (11:13 @4) + (19:14 @5) 9.81 km (4:08 / km) +77m 3:58 / km

Harriers Pioneer Museum run. Similar course to the last 2 years, but extended a bit at the far end to lengthen it from approx 9 to approx 10km.

Started more sensibly this time and ran a controlled effort. The pace probably doesn't reflect that, but the course is relatively hilly by Geraldton standards, and at my current level of fitness, hills make a big difference to pace.

Had a little surprise when the young bloke sitting on my shoulder didn't turn at the short course turnaround, and I had him for company till nearly 8.5km, when we crested the second last hill and he stopped on hte spot. Pretty glad of that - I could hear from his breathing that he was suffering, but didn't want it to come down to a race into the wind on the 1km final straight.

Pretty knackered afterwards. T'was a bit warm.

Windtrainer 1:00:05 intensity: (14:32 @1) + (19:50 @2) + (15:14 @3) + (10:29 @4) 0.43 km (2:20:43 / km)
ahr:129 max:178 shoes: Avanti Blade

Couldn't find the motivation for an afternoon run, but did feel like watching football, so hopped on the bike while I did that. Didn't really have a plan when I started, but made one up pretty quickly.
2 times through a pyramid changing up one gear every 5 minutes. Don't know what my gears are and don't have anything fancy like a power meter, but the last 5 minutes of each were quite horrendous at my current level of bike fitness, so I guess it was a reasonable way to kill and hour and sweat a few litres.

Middle chain ring on the front, 3rd-7th on the back, just in case I ever want to work out the gears. Resistance on the trainer set to max, coz that's the way I (don't) roll.

Dropped the girls at netball and headed to the oval next door. Struggling for energy and motivation after spending last night (not) sleeping on a school camp. Also a bit wheezy with some smoke in the air, but it didn't worsen.
Ended up getting through the session better than I expected. Repeat of Monday's windtrainer
10 min WU
10x (2:2)
Shorter CD to get back for netball pickup.

Except that I hit stop instead of split at some point. A habit with this watch that I need to break...
