| Weird Stuff (PT) 30:00 [4] | ||
| Final session with new PT staff. She'd upped the intensity a bit today, I had to work. Much better. | ||
| Core Stability/Stretching (Beach session) 25:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Barefoot | ||
| I arrived bang on time, no one waiting, wandered over to look at the windswept (and empty) beach then sat in the car for 10mins, no-one showed so I drove off. To see Wil sitting in his car a bit further up. Sprung! Normally he rocks-up just after the warm-up saying "I got dressed in the car then rushed down" really, he just waits till warm up is over. Very lacklustre session, but once again glad I did it rather than nothing. | ||

| Road Bike (Commute) 1:04:00 [2] 30.2 km (2:07 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| Commute with the sea-breeze behind from Melville with Jen. Hungry. | ||
| Road Bike (Commute) 1:19:00 [1] 29.95 km (2:38 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| Was terribly tired and didn't want to ride home, even to the point of hanging around work longer to delay the inevitable. Was 60m shorter on the way home but took 15mins longer. Funny to be overtaken by fat people on mountain bikes with panniers. One guy had long boardies on, thongs and really rusty rims and bike. I had a stop and stretch (rest) at the narrows. | ||
Wednesday Nov 28 | ||
| Running long 1:36:00 [2] | ||
| shoes: Brooks Beast | ||
| 5 of us tonight. Jogged around for a bit then headed to City Beach where there was an orienteering event. Ricky showed us where it was and we bought a couple of maps and ran the 6km long course then ran back to the pool. Took the dog for a 10min run on the beach afterwards, then a quick bodysurf. | ||
| Weird Stuff (PT) 35:00 [2] | ||
| Putting a new PT through her paces. Or was it vice-versa. They never really have any idea how hard to make an actual Fit person work. | ||
Tuesday Nov 27 | ||
| Running hills (Reabold West) 1:14:00 [3] 12 km (6:10 / km) | ||
| shoes: Brooks Beast | ||
| 3 sets of 4 reps up Reabold with the first 3 steady and the 4th a bit faster. 15mins of warm-up/cool down.
2:20, 2.03, 2.02, 1.55 2.05, 2.06, 2.04, 1.59 2.05, 2.05, 2.09, 1.43 Felt awful all day, didn't want to run and just hoped no-one would turn up and that I could sleep instead. Alas, 4 regulars turned up and I had to pretend to be motivated and interested and coach-like. Fortunately I've had lots of practice pretending to be athletic. Felt better afterwards, and managed to get to a servo to buy chocolate and 2L of Mountain Dew to keep me functioning for the evening.
Monday Nov 26 | ||
| Paddling (River) 1:30:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Ski, Mako 6 | ||
| Couldn't wake up for swimming but still went paddling, magic morning but the forecast of 2m seas and 2m swell meant we (Jen and I) headed for the river paddling down from Meads towards Freo and back. Were several boats full of schoolies heading down river (for Rotto?) and we got some good long hardefforts on the wake. Jen is paddling much better now on the fibreglass ski, will get her new ski next week (XT) so I'll have to start doing some proper training to stay ahead of her soon I suspect!
Had a dolphin come towards us, go under and then carry on in a very disinterested manner near The Coombe.
| Road Bike (Commute) 25:00 [3] 11 km (2:16 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| Just the short way, was in a rush. Got run off the road by a Sealanes truck on Green St, he was turning right out of a side street onto my side of the 4 lane road and decided to swing into the left lane so close his tyres went onto the concrete of the gutter. Fortunately anticipating a stupid manoeuvre I'd breaked and slowed but still had to go pathwards as he really did it badly. Moron. | ||
| Road Bike (Commute) 40:17 [3] 19 km (2:07 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| Very weak SWesterly tonight, faded to nothing by the time I got home. It's nice riding home late on nice nights like this - very little traffic and good fun. Think I must be getting older, strained my right quad in the tri on the weekend, must've been on one of the hills on the bike. Never ever hurt a quad before, other than DOMS. | ||

Sunday Nov 25 | ||
| Multisport race (Left Bank Tri) 57:00 [5] 23 km (2:29 / km) | ||
| 400/18/4
Swim: Racing my age-group these days I was off in the 7th wave, I'd noticed there was quite an outgoing tide in the river so started way out where I could see the current. Led from start to finish in the swim and caught some of the people in the previous wave who went 5 mins (!) earlier. Bike: 4 laps with a hill, 3 u-turns and a roundabout to negotiate each lap. It was more spread out than I recall from previous years on this course, maybe something to do with the entry fee being quite high. It wasn't too windy, just a westerly beginning to pick-up. Was passed by 5 people on the bike, 2 from the wave I'd caught in the swim, and 3 juniors who were a lap down on me who'd started 10mins back. Run: Wasn't passed on the run, but ran solidly-hard rather than fast-hard. Couldn't really seem to hit top gear, probably 'cos it was such a short race after the six long races I've done in the last 9 weeks! Managed to breeze by Jen on the bike, hah, makes up for the MTB pain she dished-out to be at Forster earlier in the year! Won my age-group, not sure how I would've done overall, can't be too far off the pace given age-groupers were allowed to wear wetties.
| C • Would you even consider wearing a wetsuit for a 400m swim? 2 | ||
Saturday Nov 24 | ||
| Road Bike 1:00:00 [1] 23 km (2:37 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Gary Fisher mtb | ||
| Easy dribble in to a seminar all morning. Hot again. | ||
| Note | ||
| Went to vote today and found I was not on the electoral roll. Odd, since I've voted in the same electorate a few times before in Federal elections! | ||
Friday Nov 23 | ||
| Swimming (Squad) 1:20:00 [2] 3.4 km (23:32 / km) | ||
| Arrived a few minutes late but still managed 400 w/up then was a short main set, 3x200m (100h/100M), 6x100 (50h/50m) 6x50 (25H/25m). Styaed ni for half an hour and did some fly drills with fins, and some cruisy paddle work. Looks like a nice day for a bit of training! | ||
| MTB (Gungin) 1:15:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Bike, Merida | ||
| Probably should have looked at the forecast before choosing to ride at 11am! Was a bit hot in the sun, but pretty shady around the loop. Lots of flies, more than last few summers. Maybe the dung beetles are dying out? Haven't heard anything in the media about them for a while. Managed to make it up the down bit of Gungin, but very very loose slippery gravel in places, drank 2L in the course of the ride!! | ||

| Paddling (Beach) 47:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Ski, Mako 6 | ||
| Nice cooling sea-breeze in by 5pm when I paddled, and it had been in long enough to make getting out through the shore break 'interesting'. Had to wait a few minutes but fortunately made it first go. Paddled 10mins straight out to SW into the wind then came back on the skates in 5mins - awesome fun! Did that 3x. Could have done that for another hour or so I reckon, was great fun and the water was lovely. | ||
| Core Stability/Stretching (Beach session) 50:00 [2] 2.5 km (20:00 / km) | ||
| shoes: Barefoot | ||
| Warm enough to be a bare chested session and the sand was warm - it's been a while since we've done this session and it showed, Wil and I were both pretty careful. Nice cool down swim afterwards.
The car-park which I noticed had just been street swept when I parked had a new pile of side window glass in it when we came back up with my ski - fortunately neither Wil nor my car, some unlucky other person who parked after us and left before us. Wil had his lap top in his car so a lucky boy. I leave my glove box open, console open etc to minimise risk but still hate the bastards that do that shit.
| Note | ||
| Found out it got to nearly 39 degrees today, no wonder it was hot mtbing! Felt tired but 'good-tired' today and am wide awake now, should be recovered for Sunday's mini tri. | ||

| Road Bike (Commute) 1:40:00 [2] 43 km (2:20 / km) | ||
| slept:9.0 weight:74.3kg shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| Melville to Canning Bridge to Narrows to UWA to home. 1 hour's sleep then home to work the short way! Nice morning for a ride, pity that Perth is so damn hilly and my gears are so large, had to stand a lot. Still weary. | ||
| Road Bike (Commute) 40:17 [2] 17 km (2:22 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| Lovely still, warm, darkish evening for a pancake flat ride home along the river. Lots of mostly unaware pedestrians around the belltower standing on the path taking photos of the city, the bell got a real workout tonight. | ||
Wednesday Nov 21 | ||
| Swimming (Squad) 50:00 [3] 2.7 km (18:31 / km) | ||
| slept:7.0 weight:74kg | ||
| Tired today. Arrived late. Swam poorly. Main set 8/6/4/2. Swam the 4 hard (6.04) which is 20s slower than one I did last week. And I tried. Yawn. Better eat lots and veg out at work today. | ||
| Running long 1:03:06 [2] 10.7 km (5:54 / km) | ||
| shoes: Brooks Beast | ||
| Pseudo long jog with Haggers as the pace maker. Wil, Jen and I, very cruisy but I am still stuffed and wouldn't have run if no-one had turned-up. Bold Park to McGillivray, Rochdale, Wollaston, Zamia back. | ||
Tuesday Nov 20 | ||
| Road Bike (Floreat ride) 1:43:00 [4] 53.5 km (1:56 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| Nice morning for riding, light easterly wind but a bit chilly, only 7 degrees this morning. By the end it was almost calm and was getting sunny. Big group, more even-paced today, no sprint at UWA for Eoin as a white stationwagon was running interference alongside the pack and no-one could pull out and go past. Enjoyed today. | ||
| Running (Reabold rear) 1:00:00 [4] 10 km (6:00 / km) | ||
| shoes: Brooks Beast | ||
| 9 moderate reps up the back of Reabold with Wil and Saz. All around 2.03-2.08, jog back recovery. Felt tired, but at this pace it felt beneficial, some strength maintained. | ||
Monday Nov 19 | ||
| Swimming (Squad) 1:05:00 [4] 3.1 km (20:58 / km) | ||
| Pool was a much better temperature this morning, cooler. Wasn't feeling up for a hard session, still tired from weekend but the set was more strength-orientated. Main set 200 medium pace free, 20s rest, 100m hard medley, 30s rest. So it was a good technique swim in the easier paced 200m with tiredish arms from the the medley. Now off home for breakfast and a nap! | ||
Saturday Nov 17 | ||
| Rogaining race 6:03:41 [3] 9.65 km (37:41 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Trabuco | ||
| WARA 6hr rogaine starting on the assembly area for Malmalling/Yetar Spring orienteering maps and covered much of the course for the 2006 12hour. Ricky and I planned about 37km straight line but were a bit behind schedule all the way along as a couple of the legs were thick and scratchy and in general it was hillier than a normal WA event. We stuck with our plan until 80mins to go when we dropped a 100 pointer, then with 65mins to go I mentioned to Ricky that IF we went to the next control in the north-west of the map it was 7.5km straight line back from there... and dark for most of it. We dropped that 90 pointer too and then headed with much urgency running wherever possible, including uphill when it wasn't steep and rocky, back to the HH via 5 controls after dark, missing out 3 other controls on the way. We won by about 300 points after losing 40points for being late back but had only 3 controls more than 2nd place - I reckon our choice to collect the high points that were further apart paid off.
Body felt good, never really got any sorer after the 2 1/2 hour mark, and once we were really running at the end, for about the last 90mins, it was all good. In retrospect, I certainly had the energy to run another 30mins+ at least at that speed. Ate 4 pieces of raisin toast, 4 carboshotz, 3 snickers bars and, believe it or not, about 8.5L of fluid!!! It was pretty warm and felt sort of humid too.

| (rest day) | ||
| My mobile phone is doing this silly thing where two or three times a day it prompts to 'update time and date', as if I were changing time-zones. I think it was the pummeling it got when I fell on it on the weekend. Consequently it didn't ring the alarm early today and I slept through the back-up watch alarm. I figured later it didn't matter too much as I'm doing a 6hr Stupidity on the weekend and may as well be fresh for it. Rocked up at beach training tonight pretty disinterested, and when no-one else showed I simply headed home... via the supermarket where I bought ice-cream, Mocha milk drink, chocolates, rice-cream and almond fingers. I must be tired or something. | ||
Thursday Nov 15 | ||
| Road Bike 1:16:47 [3] 36.76 km (2:05 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| Ride from Melville to work via the freeway commuter path to gain maximum overtaking points. Passed a couple of idiot women out walking in South perth (where the dolphins were again!). Idiots because first they were walking side by side towards us on our side of the path, secondly because when I rang my bell from about 30m away they gradually moved by swapping positions and walking one on each side of the path towards us!! Then, when we weaved between them at about 15kph and avoided the bike held up behind them, they had a go at bloody cyclists! | ||

| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| Was late leaving work and so was riding harder than usual. Strong headwind and lots of pedestrians in the city so was very slow and careful through there. Was passed by porn whatsthebigdeal near West Perth doing a speed way too fast for the pedestrian load. No wonder cyclists get a bad name when arrogant fools like him "race" in peak hour. Once it cleared I matched his pace through to Subi and it was around 39kph. Nothing wrong with that on a straight deserted path, but not next to West Perth station! | ||
| Paddling (River) 44:00 [2] | ||
| shoes: Ski, Mako 6 | ||
| Matilda bay was busy! Yacht race with big boats, mini yacht race with little kids in boats the size of a wheelbarrow, a kayak training group, windsurfers, kitesurfers! Jen and I paddled cruisy into the wind, and then back again catching the river waves, fun on the way back. Nice way to wind-down from a frantic day. | ||
Wednesday Nov 14 | ||
| Swimming (Squad) 1:05:00 [4] 3 km (21:40 / km) | ||
| Pool was too hot today after the last few days of hot weather, most uncomfortable. Did some flat-out 100s, 200s, 300s and then I did some single arm paddle work once the squad left. Felt ordinary. | ||
| Running 56:00 [2] 9.7 km (5:46 / km) | ||
| shoes: Brooks | ||
| Terrible slow waffle, legs were sore from yesterday I guess and I was only kept from piking by the fact Jen and Wil were there. Almost worthless session, other than I knew Wil was having to run back to Mosman park. | ||
Tuesday Nov 13 | ||
| Road Bike (Commute) 56:30 [3] 26.7 km (2:07 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| One of the 3 days of the year it seems where it isn't windy in Perth. Humid and still and I felt like riding this morning (note I didn't feel enough like riding to get up in the dark for the group ride!) so I rode the 'long' way to work via UWA, along the river to Claisebrook and in from there. Bike's running smoother since it was checked-over on Saturday.
Having put the computer back on the bike I've found the ride is shorter than I thought/remembered it was. I 'remembered' it being 28k, but 'thought' it was 29k and have measured it today as 27km - - and that was with the bike computer wheel diameter set a few mm too large. I think it's supposed to be 2096??
| Road Bike (commute) 46:00 [3] 24 km (1:55 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| went home the middle way but tacked on a few extra km to find Jen who got lost(?) on the cyclepath along the Midland line. Sort of. Anyway, headed home from there into weak sea-breeze and only passed one old man who drafted off us into the City. Lots of traffic on Salvado road, including one middle-aged tosser who tried to see how close he could get his Statesman to my bike. I nicely told him at the next traffic lights that his car was obviously a bit wider than he thought it was and to be aware of that in future. He looked straight ahead and ignored me. He was probably expecting me to swear at him or something and was all ready for a conflict so I caught him off-guard. | ||
| Running (Drills) 50:00 [2] 5 km (10:00 / km) | ||
| shoes: Brooks Beast | ||
| A useful laid-back session with Haggles, Jen, Wil, Saz and Dawn. We just focused on improving where we know our weakness lie. Haggles laid and chewed a stick, then, at the end went and nicked a tennis ball from the kids playing cricket nearby, very pleased with himself! Found out that Jen can actually look like she can run - now we just have to take it from 49m to 52m this season. | ||
Monday Nov 12 | ||
| Swimming (Squad) 1:00:00 [4] 3.2 km (18:45 / km) | ||
| (injured) | ||
| Pool was almost too warm this morning after the 37 degree day yesterday and 25ish that it was when I was driving to the pool at 530am! I took a long time to warm-up, found that my right ribs are pretty sore too, or at least my right lats are bruised and swollen where the originate on my ribs. Heads feeling normal today, but my neck couldn't hold me up doing backstroke so I piked and did easy free. Main set was 11x200 with 10s rest, swam 3.00 - 3.06 for all of them, getting stronger from 6-10. | ||
Sunday Nov 11 | ||
| Paddling (River) 1:14:00 [2] 10 km (7:24 / km) | ||
| (injured) shoes: Ski, Mako 6 | ||
| A perfect day for a paddle on the ocean but with Dalto driving from Gosnells we met at UWA and paddled on the river - 40mins into the strong easterly up to Coode St opposite the city, and back 10mins faster. Was feeling prety ordinary, mild headache, sore shoulder, sore abs but it was mmuch better on the way back. Had yet another daytime sleep afterwards.
Helped Dad start his car later in the day, and then hetook it for a drive to charge the battery - every time he pulled away from the lights my head would flop back onto the chair as my SCMs couldn't hold my head up! He said afterwards that he felt like he was driving his mongol son around!
| MTB (Langford Park) 1:04:00 [2] 24 km (2:40 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Merida | ||
| Had arranged earlier in the week to go riding with Dalto and Je n so honoured the committment and was actually unimpacted by yesterday's crash, just more incompetent and petrified than usual and a little giddy. Jen was on a mission and dropped us both after complaining she was tired, sick and coughing up green phlegm. We did the new 12hr lap route which was good for its variety after riding the old one for 12 months. Was more leg tired than I had any physical right to be, I put it down to yesterday's incident. | ||

Saturday Nov 10 | ||
| Road Bike 2:36:00 [3] 72 km (2:10 / km) | ||
| shoes: Bike, Kestrel | ||
| A nice ride for the first 2/3. Rode alone along river from North Lake Rd to Canning Bridge, jumped on the back of a group here which got me going a bit quicker, round Mt Henry, left group, Narrows, Causeway (saw dolphins and some swan families near Wesley boatshed opposite the city), Burswood, East Perth, under causeway and then at the Plain St cyclepath junction with the river cyclepath my ride (and memory) came to an abrupt violent halt. I can remember lying on the grass near the river edge with people standing around and this middle-aged Swiss couple were helping me out while I was a bit unsteady on my feet. The hubby was a pretty solid guy and it turned out he had come across from Plain St and turned left onto the cyclepath towards the causeway, where I was coming from. Trouble was he turned left onto the right side of the path, doing the European thing. Given where my bike and I were/are sore I think I must have hit right shoulders and right brakehoods with him before knocking myself out when I hit the ground. Right ring finger is now purple and swollen, probably squashed on his bike, and the front of my neck is sore - hurts to yawn!! So I think I landed on my back on the grass and sand. Also when I got back to my folks place my shirt pockets had sand and shells in them. I notice th'smorning that my abs are also a bit sore so that pretty much confirms it, every muscle that worked suddenly eccentrically is sore.
It's weird, a day later and my last memory is seeing them on the road up ahead crossing over to the cyclepath but I can't remember anything after that. He apologised and said he didn't see me, gave me $100 for my helmet and was straightening my derailleur. I am surprised I have got off so lightly really, I wasn't going fast, about 27kph but there's 5mins of my life or thereabouts gone. I should splice that bit with the 20mins or so from Bunbury in 95 or was it 96? I can't remember losing my shoe or phone or stuff but they were all sandy and grassy and were in different pockets to when I started the ride when I got home. I had a splitting headache and rode home slowly around the cyclepath via Mosman Park and Cottesloe, was too edgy to ride on the roads. Had 4 hours sleep in the arvo, and then 10hours last night. Nothing like head injury to make you sleep well.

| Swimming (Squad) 1:25:00 [3] 3.9 km (21:48 / km) | ||
| Got in a bit early today and did a few hundred and found I was feeling pretty good. And then for once a timetrial coincided with a feel good day and so I posted a solid time for 400m of 5:42. The quickest I've swum in a few years and more than reflective of the 2ish swims a week I've sort of been doing! We did some more 200s h/ez and then after squad was over I pulled out the big paddles and did some stroke work as I can feel my weenie left arm always taking the path of lesser resistance when the going gets tough. Nice sunny and warm start to the day. | ||
Thursday Nov 8 | ||
| Weird Stuff (Spin Bike) 48:00 [3] 19 km (2:32 / km) | ||
| Jen and I tried out the new spin bikes at work, dragged a couple out to the shade of the gum trees near the outdoor pools and did a few pyramids, some sprints and some single leg work. The bikes are magnetic resistant and almost completely silent - the readout gives cadence, heart rate and watts and gives awesome feedback. I can see myself spending some time on these bikes every now and then. | ||
Wednesday Nov 7 | ||
| Swimming (Squad) 1:00:00 [2] | ||
| Needed to swim as not training negatively affects my ability to sleep, and my quads are still too sore to use preperly! I can't even put my phone in my pocket as the pressure on my quad hurts - damn DOMS! Pretty sure it's from the rock running for 40mins and then the downhill stuff. Can't even sleep on my front yet as the bed hurts them. Pool was nice, virtually empty, I guess because of the horse race yesterday and people over-indulging. Set included a 1km timetrial which I wasn't too enthused about, just cruised it, 15.43. | ||

Sunday Nov 4 | ||
| Event: Anaconda Geographe Bay | ||
| Multisport 4:33:44 [4] | ||
| Anaconda Geographe Bay. I had a good race, but faded near the end of the run and struggled on the last MTB. Managed to beat RobbieJ and Ben's team, although Rob had the fastest run on the day - faster than Raph, Todd, Boydy etc.
Swim 1.8km (28.07, 25th) - what a debacle! For some reason organisers used one buoy only - located at the end of the straight line swim to turn right at into the beach. Unfortunately this buoy was the size of a common household esky and couldn't be seen with the rough easterly chop on the water. I knew something was wrong when I stood up for a bit and saw about 50m ahead of me swimmers heading 1) out to sea and 2) into shore! Looking about 45 degrees left I saw the buoy about 75m away and swam over to it which made up a lot of time on faster swimmers who had been in closer to shore before sent out. On the way in about 2/3 of the field cut the course short which made for a lot of angry tempers. Lots of good swimmers were well down the list as they headed back out to sea for the U-turn while other hacks simply cut the corner. A individual not too far behind me overall clearly has poor ethics as demonstrated by his unusually fast swim time. Yes the buoys should have been the big inflatable one, but the cheats all chose to cheat. I was annoyed enough to summon up the energy to run past a whole bundle of people on the 200m metre wade/trudge to shore. Paddle 12.5km (69.07 66th) - pretty tough conditions for less-experienced paddlers with the swell coming side on and the wind from behind. I loved it and although not that fast had a great time chasing the swells. Finding my ski was the toughest part among the 400 or so colourful craft lying on the small bit of beach! Some people who had chosen faster boats than usual paid the penalty. Coming into the beach for some reason I broad-sided, stayed on as the wave broke and ended-up pointing out to sea! I fought my way through the waiting team runners to get to my gear to get shoes etc on. Run 14.5km (89.10, 30th) Richard Elderfield went past me very early, and that made me feel good as I knew he was a contender for a good position so I must've been doing ok. Then just after getting onto the track I didn't see a tree branch that just about k-o'ed me and left me crumpled on the ground for a few seconds. A team runner helped me up and I was only wobbley for a minute or so. My legs felt good and I ran well through the rough trails and along the beaches and rocks. I could see Richard about 150m ahead for much of the run, and made all of that up in the 400m or so of beach boulders just before the water jump/swim. After that when got onto tracks and paddock he just pulled away out of sight and I was also passed by Ken Tomczack. The last few km down the hill was tough on my legs as I was trying to stride out but could tell I was paying for my earlier pace - having legs that weren't hurting meant I was running at a pace faster than I was used to! Bike 22km (79.04, 101st). I felt tired at the start of the ride and never improved. There was heaps of single track, most of the first section was gradually uphill on sand/laterite with a few log-overs which I negotiated fine and passed Greg Mickle on. On the other side of the bitumen road was the last gravel section through Meelup Park and I was losing it here, struggling to co-ordinate steering and had to walk a few small steep bits. In my favour was that the gaps were pretty big now and I wasn't passed by many people. Glad to get off the bike after a bad ride. Beach run 1.8km (8.16, 22nd). Was all alone here but had the motivation of trying to get a faster time than Saz for a $10 prime. 18s was my eventual margin, yay! Finished feeling leg tired but otherwise not as shattered as I expected. More paddling strength and more bike riding would've helped my cause, but not to the point of placing much better. 10th individual, 22nd overall. Happy with that. Sean O'Neill had a great race, running up to Guy Andrews, and then the two of them catching Jared Kohlar at the end of the MTB making for a race for the remaining 3rd spot and prize money. Jared 3, Sean 4, Guy 5. Teach Sean to paddle faster and he'd just about win the thing.
