Run 50:00 [3] 8.0 km (6:15 / km) +275m 5:20 / km
shoes: Asics 2130 trail

5 Km loop and Inspiration woods with Courtney. Nice run. Starting to feel a bit better.

Paddle 40:00 [2] 5.0 km (7.5 kph)

Easy paddle on the Columbia in the kayak while Courtney and her teamates were sorting out paddle arrangements for Race the Rockies. Current has slowed down so made it past the hwy bridge.

Run 32:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Asics gt 2110 #2

Run on the greenbelt with the dog. Water levels have come up so some of the trails are flooded - got my feet wet. Felt rather slow but I guess I haven't run for a while and I think I am still recovering from BC Bike Race.

Hike 45:00 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (25:00 @3) +300m

Hiked up Crowbar with Courtney and the dogs. Pretty sweaty on the way up but that could have been related to the damp conditions as well.

Bike race 2:47:00 [3] +1200m

Last day of the BC Bike Race. Like with multi day adventure races it is interesting how quickly the week seems to go by, espcially when early in the week riding for seven days straight seems rather daunting. Our last day of riding was in Whistler with the start and finish being in Creekside. The trails we rode today were fun but there are better trails to ride in Whistler. I think those other trails would have required more cost to run due to more marshals, higher event permit fee (I heard the permit cost $5000 for running it out of Creekside - I'd imagine it would be more to finish in the main village), etc..

Anyway we started with a very steep climb up the ski runs that involved some bike pushing. I rode with Adam so took it easy - it would have sucked to hammer up the hill. We then rode See Colours and Puke and then down to the Cheakamus river and the rim trail. A few more climbs and finally we rode Tunnel Vision which was the toughest trail of the day before popping out near Olympic Plaza in Creekside and crossing the finish line and receiving our finishers belt buckles.

All in all this was a very fun week. I've done other races where I've felt I'm just racing for the sake of racing and this race had none of that. Every day included lots of riding that I would want to do if I was visiting that community for fun. It felt like a bike holiday where you were riding a bit harder than normal. Logistics seemed to work pretty well. This is a big event to pull off and though there were little issues that could be improved overall I'd say we got our money's worth. Highly recommended for anyone who loves to ride their mountain bike. The only caveat I'd add though is that having decent technical skills makes the event way more fun.

Bike warm up/down 20:00 [1]

Cool down ride through Whistler to go pick up my truck. Man it was busy out there. Tourists left and right - almost as busy as in the winter.
