In Dresden visiting with Courtney's brother (he has been living here for the past year after getting a Humboldt award). Unseasonably cold with temps near freezing. Nice to be able to access a very large forest just a few km from their house. Ran on one side of the creek and back on the other. Hamstrings felt really tight today.

A really nice afternoon - haven't had a lot of nice and sunny days this fall. Limited time before it got dark (can we keep DST year round?) so rode from home and did a bit of a lap on the town trails, CPR and Toaster. A bit slick and lots of leaves but fun. Possibly last mtb ride of the year.

The last week has been a bit of a write off. Had a really sick dog for a few days (short of breath) and then a day in Winfield getting some tests done for him, then worked the weekend, and have the usual pre-trip pressure to finish certain tasks so free time has seemed limited.

Dog is OK - though at one point we thought maybe he had an aggressive cancer based on some X-ray findings but U/S turned out OK. We incidentally (I think as it doesn't explain all of his symptoms last week) found that he has a bit of a dilated cardiomyopathy with a leaky heart valve but that doesn't seem too out of the ordinary for an almost 11 year old dog. Anyway he has bounced back without any specific treatment and today was his first run since being sick - only took him for 2km and did the rest on my own. After dark so stuck to the streets. He seemed fine
