Backcountry skiing (Coomback) 3:30:00 intensity: (1:30:00 @2) + (2:00:00 @3) 10.5 km (20:00 / km) +1175m 12:49 / km

That was a pretty good first day of skiing at the Gorge...

Large group of us as we pulled in some friends of friends that I didn't know. It all worked out though we did have some waiting around at times. Snow quality was excellent and way better than expected. Also surprised by the lack of tracks. I broke a fair bit of trail today so feeling a bit tired. Pretty good coverage other than in the cutblock.

Skate ski 45:00 [3] 9.5 km (4:44 / km) +250m 4:11 / km

First nordic ski of the season. We've had a bit of a late start to snow in town and pretty limited coverage at McPherson. Was actually better than I expected though still pretty bumpy and most certainly rock ski conditions. Out and back on the only trails that were reasonably groomed.

Hike 1:15:00 [3] 4.0 km (18:45 / km) +740m 9:44 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Early morning hike up Table Mountain. Unfortunately we picked the one morning where the cloud (the "Tablecloth") enclosed the summit. An hour earlier or a few hours later it was clear but when we were up there could not see anything. Good views on the climb though until the last hundred meters. Matt, Joannie and I took the supposedly dangerous India Venster route - a few pitches if more exciting scrambling/climbing and a little route finding was needed but overall felt like the warnings were to keep inexperienced tourists off the route. Took the cable car down.

Bike 1:35:00 [3] 38.0 km (24.0 kph) +625m

Sean and I went for one last road ride before packing up the bikes. A bit of urban navigation to get to Camps Bay, up to the Kloof Neck, lower Tram station and across on the tram road. It was quite a nice ride as it traversed the mountain with little and then no traffic (road closed to cars). Back via Camps Bay, Clifton and Sea Point. Some pretty nice seaside real estate... good ride and some interesting sight seeing.
