Backcountry skiing (Coomback/Backdraft) 2:00:00 [2] 7.5 km (16:00 / km) +850m 10:13 / km

Pretty warm and snowy day today. Late start as Jordan got stuck in the hospital so only a half day. Not expecting the best conditions but he needed to test out his boots (went down a size). Was hoping to do Rogers Run but the area was closed so stuck to Grizzly Shoulder. The up was frustrating at times with snow sticking to my skins. Probably the best uptrack I have ever seen up there though. Usually it is so steep. The upper few hundred meters were good while lower down it got more variable. Would have been better if we'd been on a different aspect as could feel the sun crust from a couple days ago. The last few hundred meters were especially crappy. Good exploration though. Man it has been a rainy March...

Run 27:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Brooks Ghost

Road run - got shortened as I got called to work. Wasn't feeling that energetic anyway.

Backcountry skiing (Coomback) 2:30:00 [2] 8.5 km (17:39 / km) +1100m 10:43 / km

Mt english with Brook. Actually drove all the way to the Gorge to be stopped by active logging at 5km on the FSR. Should have stuck with the original plan but anyway back to Mt English. Skied from the cabin for the first time. Great terrain - a few old tracks but no heli skiers. Snow was a little heavy but pretty deep.

Backcountry skiing (Tonic) 4:00:00 [2] 18.0 km (13:20 / km) +1400m 9:36 / km

First day at the pass this year - warm with sun this morning so wanted to stick to north facing. Decided on the Lily Glacier - great glacial scenery climbing the moraines. Upper part was a bit slow as we got stuck behind a few parties that were roping up on the glacier (training for their guides exams?? it is pretty easy to avoid crevasses on the Lily). Thought about going over the Dome Col but group consensus was to not extend the day longer (though would have been a better run). Some good pitches on the way down with nice snow. Got a bit heavy lower down and the ski out was slow. Skis need some wax and structure.... Overall a nice tour but skiing at the pass rarely delivers a satisfying amount of turns vs effort.
