Bike 1:00:00 [4] 17.0 km (17.0 kph) +500m

Second fiver bike race on Berm Donor and Dusty Beaver. I just got the Epic back after putting a new fork on it and switching to trigger shifters from grip shift. Not ideal to jump into a race with a new set up but it worked out OK. Certainly felt a little tentative on the first lap at times. Overall the changes are positive as the new fork seems stiffer and more progressive (the old one was pretty linear once the brain opened up). The trigger shifters allow me to actually use the full width of the bar. A bit weird having one SRAM shifter and one shimano shifter but that should improve with time.

Race went well - around Cookie and Isaac most of the race and a few minutes behind Brendan. They had a better second lap than I did and finished 30 seconds in front. Certainly not as energetic as I could be after the weekend. Emily was right behind me which was super impressive.

Run 42:00 [1] 5.5 km (7:38 / km) +150m 6:43 / km

Pretty slow run on the CPR trails with the dog. I let him set the pace but I wasn't really interested in running much faster. Legs were tired.

Paddle 1:15:00 [2] 7.0 km (5.6 kph)

SUP on the Columbia with Courtney. Launched at the airport and Arrow Lakes is getting pretty high. Still a little bit of current in the main channel but could paddle across the road. A bit of a headwind to deal with at times which is a little harder on a SUP vs a kayak. great day - blue skies, green grass and snow covered peaks.

Bike (Road) 3:05:00 [3] 83.0 km (26.9 kph) +1300m

Last day of RR but didn't do the standard out and back to Greenwood. Wasn't that keen on the Hwy 3 requirement. The girls still wanted to hit the coffee shop so they went that way and continued onward to Rock Creek. The boys started in Christina Lake and crossed into the US again for the Boulder Pass climb. Very quiet roads - I'd be surprised if we got passed by more than 20 cars all day. Truthfully I don't know why Boulder Pass is even paved as it is a road connected two very sparsely populated valleys with two other alternative routes to travel between them. Our gain I guess...

Anyway the pace was fairly steady all day. Easy tempo for the warm up and early parts of the climb and then turned things up a notch for the final parts of the climb. Nothing too steep on the climb suited my riding a lot better (rather than really steep). The burnt forest at the top was cool to ride through and a nice long fast descent to Curlew down the other side. Rode a hard pace line from Curlew to the border until we made Brook cry uncle. Good day of riding and nice to have our little group for company.
