Bike 1:20:00 [2] 15.5 km (11.6 kph) +475m

Heading back home today from Lethbridge - tossed around some ideas of driving via Crowsnest Pass but that was going to be an hour extra and pass through an extra local fire near Canal Flats. As it was we got stuck for an hour by an accident on the TC near Field...

Anyway stopped at West Bragg instead and rode Long Distance-Reconnect-Merlin View CW-Braggin Rights. No barbed wire seen on the trail... ;) It had rained a surprising amount overnight and was only 16c at 11am so quite the difference from the heat yesterday. Very erie riding in the fog and wet roots/rocks seemed foreign. Had a good ride though I wonder if doing our route in the opposite direction would have been better.

The parking lot that has been built at West Bragg is huge! Can't imagine how busy the trails are when the lot is full (630 parking spots).

Bike 1:40:00 [2] 22.0 km (13.2 kph) +425m

Went for some bike exploration in the coulees. Temperatures were way warmer today and already when we started it felt a bit stifling. Rode some of the trails that we had run a few days ago and also explored some of the other trails listed in trailforks. Violet Tendencies and back along the river was our favourite section of trail. Double bogey was also pretty fun but did require a river crossing. Some other parts were a little less exciting and just straight up or down. A bit of wind picked up which actually made the temperatures more bearable.

Hike 2:15:00 [1] 9.0 km (15:00 / km) +500m 11:44 / km

Very nice hike with Courtney and her parents. Since we weren't able to leave first thing due to Rob having to do his daily IV meds visit I found an option that wasn't in Waterton as we were worried about the parking situation. Good thing too as Waterton reached capacity today and they stopped letting people into the park for an hour. Don't think that has ever happened before. On our loop in Beauvais Lakes Provincial Park we saw only a few people on the trail and 3 cars in the parking lot. We did the Mt Albert circuit which was a combo of winter ski trails, hiking trails, and some off trail sections following orange markers on trees. Reminded me of being in Bragg Creek as we had good views both towards the prairies and also the bigger peaks to the west.

Run 59:00 intensity: (44:00 @2) + (15:00 @4) 9.5 km (6:13 / km) +170m 5:42 / km
shoes: Montrail Rogue Racer

Coulee run in Lethbridge. It has been several years since our last overnight visit so certainly a bit overdue. Cooled off a little today so the afternoon start time wasn't too bad. Very dry here too - grass is brown and dormant. Found some good trails to run on - memory hasn't failed me yet;) 5x2.5min tempo with 1.5min break in between. I forgot to tell courtney that I was doing these so I think I subconsciously made her feel like she was running slow today...

Bike 2:00:00 [2] 24.5 km (12.2 kph) +625m

Nice ride in Golden - was smoky in Revelstoke but due to wind direction it was way better in Golden. We climbed CBT which really climbs nicely then Hemiptera/Odonata. At this point someone in the group (hint not me) got cranky and complained that this trail was boring. I thought it was a great addition to the network. Back via Old Age, Gold Rush and Take it Easy. Great trails for the Epic.

Paddle 50:00 [2] 5.75 km (6.9 kph)

Actually managed to get out of bed for a 6am paddle. So nice and calm that early. Clear skies to the west but smoke drifting in from the east -likely from the fires in Glacier Park.

Run 30:00 [2] 4.0 km (7:30 / km) +100m 6:40 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Easy running around setting up signs for the race.

Bike 51:00 [4] 13.0 km (15.3 kph) +270m

Last fiver bike race. Only 12 people out and none of the usual leaders so thought I might have a solo tempo effort and I was right. Fun ride though on a technical and rooty course. At times going too fast seemed to be counterproductive as you would bounce around in only partial control. It was interesting finding the speed that worked on the rolling bits where you could keep traction. Won by a few minutes - 10 seconds slower on the second lap so held the pace pretty well.
