Backcountry skiing (Roamr) 5:00:00 [2] 15.0 km (20:00 / km) +1600m 13:03 / km

Mt English with Brook. It feels like we have lost a month of winter... we went from the middle of March to the end of April in terms of conditions. I skied this zone with Stuart last year on April 18th and had better conditions. Today was sunny and warm again - FL around 2000m. On direct north facing there was dry snow down to about 1600m in the morning but this was on the previous crust. I the alpine the snow was deeper but also some weird wind effect. Skiing was OK but not amazing. Nice day of exploration though with a trip on the English Glacier and a ski into the big bowl back down to the sled. Didn't quite make it to the summit as the ridge is sharper than it looks. Also much farther than it looks as the glacier is fairly mellow. Our route back stayed high which had one crux section we boot packed (and then ripped skins to ski a nice 100m pitch). I'm not sure I would be confident to take this route mid-winter. There appears to be a lower route which has a short convex pitch to climb (might make more sense to ski down this first to ski cut the problem pitch). Or could use a line of trees which looks OK other than being right above a cliff:) Toe crampons would have been useful today for the short gulley up to the ridge. Felt pretty worked afterwards - hot, heavy pack due to glacier gear and the wind effect made for harder trail breaking.

Bike 45:00 [1] 9.0 km (12.0 kph)

Fat biking with Milo along the green belt. Still some snow patches on the trail and lots of snow on the flats. Did some off roading along the river as it is pretty low and lots of gravel bars showing.

Skate ski 1:10:00 [2] 14.5 km (4:50 / km) +325m 4:20 / km

Skate ski with Stuart and Courtney. Amazing what a difference a week makes for conditions. Last Friday was wonderful and now into full on spring conditions. The dog loop snow is quite dirty. A bit better high up but they didn't run the big groomer (just the ginzu) so still variable.

Tuesday Mar 26 #

Run 50:00 [3] 6.0 km (8:20 / km) +300m 6:40 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Black

Cartier lookout - a few patches of snow but otherwise clear.

Monday Mar 25 #

Run 30:00 [2] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)

Easy greenbelt trail run.

Sunday Mar 24 #

9 AM

Classic ski 1:10:00 [2] 14.0 km (5:00 / km) +300m 4:31 / km

Skiing with Courtney. The snow was not quite as nice today - a few more nights of MF and no clear night meant it was holding a bit more moisture.
