Saturday Feb 8 #

Swim 1:00:00 [3] 2.8 km (21:26 / km)

A few weeks off swimming and arms feel rubbery again.

Strength 30:00 [3]

About 25cm of new wet snow made for hard work. Had to lower the snowbanks too...
1 PM

Skate ski 1:15:00 [3] 13.5 km (5:33 / km) +250m 5:05 / km

More snow overnight so softish and slow conditions. Still a nice ski until Milo got into it with a dog that he doesn't like and bit the dog. To be fair the other dog went at him first but still tough when your dog goes overboard with the response.

Friday Feb 7 #

11 AM

Run 1:00:00 [2] 9.75 km (6:09 / km) +30m 6:04 / km
shoes: Icebug Green

Slightly longer run today. Felt the hip getting a bit fatigued towards the end which isn't too bad as longest run in some time. Nice that the temperature is bit more seasonal.

Thursday Feb 6 #

Strength 30:00 [1]

Snow shovelling
11 AM

Skate ski 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km) +240m 4:33 / km

No poles for the entire ski. Some of the nicest conditions this year in terms of grooming. Could be faster but good balance and not icy.

Wednesday Feb 5 #

10 AM

Run 50:00 [2] 8.0 km (6:15 / km) +25m 6:09 / km
shoes: Icebug Green

Greenbelt run with Milo. Footing on the greenbelt was better but still soft in spots.
2 PM

Classic ski 1:00:00 [1] 11.0 km (5:27 / km) +200m 5:00 / km

A little fresh cold snow filling in the tracks. Grip was acceptable on the waxable skis. About 10cm of new low density snow on top of the crust so dog can range wherever he likes.

7 AM

Run 50:00 [1] 8.0 km (6:15 / km) +20m 6:10 / km
shoes: Icebug Green

On call run with Milo. Risked that the early morning time frame would be quiet and we looped the groomed trails. Felt decent though pace seemed slow. I blame that on the footing...

12 PM

Classic ski 1:30:00 [3] 16.0 km (5:38 / km) +240m 5:14 / km

Had to drive my dad to the airport for his flight home. Took a detour to Silver Star for a nordic ski as he had never been there, Conditions were a little tricky due to the recent warm up (FL went to 2000m) and then refreeze. Groomer had a hard time gettng the classic tracks deep in the snow. I was on the waxlable skis which was fine as long as my wax stayed on them. Any snowplowing would take off large amounts of wax. Nice and sunny though colder than I had expected (-10 vs forecast of -5). Had a nice lunch at Bugaboos and then back to the car.

Sunday Feb 2 #

2 PM

Skate ski 1:15:00 [3] 14.0 km (5:21 / km) +310m 4:49 / km

Weather was much better this morning and flew out od the lodge first thing. Went to Macpherson with Stuart and my dad in the afternoon.
