Paddle 3:00:00 [2] 18.0 km (6.0 kph)
Courtney requested an overnight paddle trip and after I suggested a few options the group (Russ, Vikki, Brett, Suzanne and Courtney) decided on an upper Lake Revelstoke trip. We left a vehicle at Bret's place at Downie Loop then drove to the BigMouth. I've lived in Revelstoke 16 years and I've only driven beyond Downie a couple times. It made the weekend feel like we were exploring somewhere new despite only being an hour drive from home. I have done this paddle before during RTNX 2000 though half was in the dark. We started mid afternoon as the girls had a course in the morning and made it to a nice beach near Hoskins Creek. The hwy was quite close across the water but we heard less than a dozen cars over the course of the evening. Unfortunately our nice blue skies disapeared for the evening as some clouds rolled in. Nice and calm otherwise (and only a few mosquitoes).
