Solo ride (with Milo) on the gen 3 RM Instinct (RM demo was in town). The steep seat angle certainly seemed to put me in a good climbing position (certainly better than some other rental bikes I've been on lately). I think I'd put a longer stem on the bike though... climbing was fine though it seemed like more upper body work to keep the wheel tracking. I don't see how you avoid the feeling of front wheel flopping side to side while climbing with modern slack bikes (and with heavier tires/wheels pulling it back takes some efffort). I can certainly see the benefit for high speed and descending but there are drawbacks. In any case this bike was OK for Mcpherson unlike the Megatower I rode a few years ago.

Airport to home run with Milo. Pretty warm already at 10am. Kept the pace fairly relaxed and lots of water stops. Grass is getting long. Very green and beautiful. Hip started bugging me after 45 minutes.

From home back to the airport. Solo paddle which felt a little weird. I haven't paddled much alone lately but the cold river and turbulent river made me feel surprisingly "out there". Water levels are going up making it pretty muddy water and the dam must have been wide open as flow was fast. Steady pace with no stops other than to walk across the road to get into the slough.

Beautiul weather today... first in line at Bluebell Cafe for coffe and a breakfast sandwich. Fairly busy as only a couple places open and a decent amount of weekend visitors (though this is Kaslo - still quiet comparatively). Headed north on Hwy 31 - great section of road. Good pavement, quiet today, and great views. Passed through Meadow Creek then hit the gravel section - about 80km in total but pretty smooth hard packed dirt for the most part. Could be ridden on a road bike if you had to...

The river section was a very constant 0.5% grade. It actually went by rather quickly (I though it might have the potential for some monotony). We stopped for a break at the east end of Trout Lake - the water in the river is so clear. The next climb had multiple false tops which was a little annoying - smooth enough descent though. We stopped at the general store in Trout Lake (which is weird) ad Stuart bought 2L of Pepsi. Somehow he managed to drink all of it in the next two hours...

Only an hour or so from Trout Lake back to the truck with a fast descent from Galena Pass (who knew there was a named pass there?). Felt better energy-wise today though my buttock was getting sore. We saw six bears over the course of the two days.
